Located just a stone's throw from the Prado i museum is this fantastic fountain representing the God Neptune with a trident. It's worth stopping.

This fountain has just been restored and its result has puzzled me. I understand it must be the original color of the stone but it clashes a lot with what we saw before. Now it looks like a sculpture made yesterday instead of in the 18th century.

This sumptuous fountain, born of Greek mythology and neoclassical style, is located on Paseo del Prado, in the center of Plaza de Canovas del Castillo. Unfortunately in the middle of a roundabout, so inaccessible. Atletico Madrid fans meet to celebrate a trophy.

Time for fiestas and stadium choirs! 🥳
⚽️The Fountain of Neptune is not only a beautiful neoclassical monument in Plaza de Cánovas del Castillo. It competes with the Fuente de Cibeles, 500 meters away. The fans of Atlético de Madrid, the "colchoneros", celebrate their victories here, while those of Real Madrid do so in the Plaza de Cibeles.
i️On the circular basin of the fountain there is the huge sculpture of Neptune that with a snake twisted on the right hand and the trident in the left, stands on a cart formed by a shell pulled by two horses with a fish tail.
i️It was designed by Ventura Rodríguez in 1782, and built between 1780 and 1784 by Juan Pascual de Mena, who carved it all in white marble from Montesclaros (Toledo).
i️As in Ventura Rodríguez’s original project, the fountains of Neptune and Cibeles were initially placed opposite each other, in a side part of the Paseo del Prado. Both Cibeles and Neptune were renovated at the end of the 19th century and moved, eventually moving to occupy the center of Plaza Cibeles and Plaza Cánovas del Castillo.
i️With the Fuente de Apolo and Cibeles, they formed part of the decoration for the Salón del Prado, designed under Charles III.
i️Plaza de Neptuno is also the location overlooked by Hotel Palace and Hotel Ritz, two of the hotels with the most history in Madrid.

Delightful fountain, near the Prado Museum, along Paseo del Prado. Difficult to get a good photo of the fountain without risking your life with at the surrounding traffic circle, but it's quite a nice fountain!

The Fountain of Neptune, god of the Sea, is a very large work located in the Plaza de Canovas del Castillo (almost in the center of the Paseo del Prado) and very well depicts the God Neptune with his trident on a chariot (a shell actually) horse-drawn; Dolphins and Seals spray water upwards. I've seen it many times and I've always liked it a lot.

In the Plaza de Neptuno there is the fountain and the statue of Neptune, god of the sea, in the middle of the Paseo Del Prado in a privileged environment.

The fountain is right across from Prado Museum. Very nice overall in the center of Madrid. Love the colors especially at night.

In another famous square in Madrid, Plaza de Neptuno, another emblematic symbol of the capital of Spain. Once again, in the center of it and in a very busy roundabout. Some difficulty in observing closely and taking photographs. It is a large fountain/sculpture of great architectural beauty. Here Atlético de Madrid fans celebrate their victories and achievements.
