A highly recommended visit. I loved it!!. I have already visited it three times and they have improved it a lot. Every time you go, you discover something new. Living history of aeronautics.
There are 7 hangars with different themes around aeronautics: history, uniforms, engines and material used by pilots, small planes, model airplanes, recreation, you can see airplane cabins,...
The hangars are distributed around a large central rectangle where a large number of aircraft are displayed. They have all been in service.
The Museum has:
. with toilets.
. with cafeteria (it is small). I think they are only open on weekends and holidays.
. with parking for about 50-60 cars depending on whether or not there are school buses.
. Guided visits
. Free admission, although a donation can be made voluntarily for the maintenance of the facilities
Highly recommended to go with children of any age. Less with people in wheelchairs.
It is recommended to bring a hat and sunglasses. If you visit on your own, you can usually see it in a couple of hours.
You can access:
. by car
. by intercity bus. From the stop it is just a 5-minute walk.
. by Metro and Renfe it is Cuatro Vientos and 1km walking but I don't know if it is very accessible or not.

The museum preserves some really interesting aircraft, and also provides a good summary of the beginning of Spanish aviation.

We went to spend the morning, you can see the airplanes with the models and variants to which they belong, from various countries, some with propellers, from the Second World War, some from the First World War, later and current combat fighters, as well like some prototype as well as helicopters, a recreation of the night takeoff of planes from an aircraft carrier, a blockhouse, which is a type of fort, decorations and as well as a pennant of the parachute brigade. The place has a small cafeteria where you can acquire pens, visors, glasses, patches, stickers, everything related to Aviation. As a suggestion they could include either a model or a visual review of the 'Hispano Aviación HA-500 Alacrán', a project that was cancelled.

The museum is located on the outskirt of Madrid, near an Air base. You can get there by public transport..but a car makes it much more comfortable. It is an open space and the wind is strong, have something to keep you warm.
The entrence fee is realy afordable but THEY DONT TAKE CARDS so cash is a must.
The space is wast, 6 hangars + an outside area..The planes range from the beginings to the present. A lot of realy interrsting planes can be seen, sadly some are further away from the pavements(they tell you to not walk on the grass). An engine exhibition is also in one of the hangars..realy interesting.
The descriptions are in well layed out, and the staff is realy friendly. All in all one of the better military themed museums i have visited. If you are into aviation/war stuf..i highly reccomend a visit.

We went on a sunny Sunday as a family with children and the ones who enjoyed it the most were the adults. The collection of aircraft and their components is difficult to cover in one morning. The evolution of aviation from its early years to supersonic aircraft. We went on the first Sunday of the month so we saw the air show flying over us. An essential visit that we had not made before due to ignorance of the existence of this place.

Having an interest in aviation, I was keen to visit the Museum of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Cuatro Vientos whilst on a long weekend break in Madrid. I can honestly say it is one of the best aviation museums I have visited!
There is a large variety of aircraft types on display, both outdoors and inside the hangers. These aircraft are well preserved, and the types parked outside are positioned well for photography. Many of the displays have English translations too.
The volunteers were extremely friendly, the facilities are good and overall I had a very enjoyable few hours visiting.
Entry is free, but I would definitely recommend giving a donation as it is such a well run museum!
Even though the museum is away from the city centre, getting there was quick and easy. Just get the metro to Príncipe Pío, and then the bus from the bus station to the museum. Buses on this route are very regular so you won’t have to wait around long at all.
Could not recommend enough!

Entertaining and interesting visit. Seeing planes up close is very curious.
I had never been there or heard of anyone who had been there.
I think it is a good visit to go with children. You enter via the Extremadura highway once you pass Alcorcón. It is not easy to see, but with the GPS you can get there well.

Lamento no poder ayudarle. Desconozco por completo esa historia. Soy un visitante del museo ocasional, como lo soy de otros de la capital.
Saludos.
