The Corso Italia is one of Sorrento’s main streets. Commencing almost at the western edge of Sorrento it runs west to east through the entire town. It passes through the Piazza Tosso the more or less centre of the town continuing east through Sorrento and the neighbouring municipalities of Sant'Agnello Piano di Sorrento and Meta. Past Meta it eventually merges with the main highway north to Pompeii and Naples.
Within Sorrento itself, the Corso Italia is major shopping area which attracts hundreds of tourists and locals alike. East of the Piazza are numerous shops, restaurants, cafes and bakeries as well as banks and more than a few hotels. The street more or less parallels the railway line and it becomes more residential and less commercial in nature as it enters into adjoining Sant’ Agnello.
Going westward from the Piazza it traverses the more touristic part of Sorrento with access to even more shopping. North of the street are numerous smaller streets and alleys literally full of shops specializing in lacework, limoncello and fine leather goods.
Piazza Tosso is not the only plaza on the street, East of it is the tree lines Piazza Angelina Lauro with its fountain, a great place to sit, relax enjoy a cappuccino or gelato and people watch. Going west one finds the Piazza Andrea Viniero and the Parco di Villa Fiorentino.

Great, long pedestrian only street of shops and restaurants. Somewhat modern but with sone authentic restaraunts amongst the more modern and touristy. .

Arrived from Naples by circumvesuviana (about 1 hour), we arrived in Sorrento and with a very short walk on the avenue, here we are in the city center. What about .. just gorgeous. Full of alleys, shops, restaurants, bars, craftsmen .. and then you get to a terrace overlooking the sea with a view of the marina and you all the coast. Breathtaking!! Not to be missed

A must visit while in Sorrento, and repeat visits are OK. We spent a lot of time there shopping, eating, and people watching. Lots of traffic though, so be careful.

Inloved with Sorrento. Beautiful place, safe, easy to walk, many places to visit, nice restaurants, excellent food, and testy Gelato, many stores for people who wants to buy things,no to expensive very quiet compared with Amalfi Coast. Very beautiful Harbor. Last but not least the best place to stay to visit Amalfy Coast, also Pompeii and more. I look forward to come back for 1 month.

The city's main street, lined with lots of small shops and places to eat and drink. Quite wide compared to the other streets of the city. Appreciated the fact that it is totally pedestrian.

Corso Italia is the main street that goes through Sorrento. Our apartment was on this street, but not on the area that was pedestrian only in March. It's not as picturesque as the smaller medieval streets, but everyone visiting Sorrento will certainly walk down Corso Italia.

Hello, I just returned from a trip to Sorrento. Fabulous place to visit. I am hoping someone has just recently visited Sorrento and can help me to locate one of the shops that was selling these canvas totes with rope handles. It is a Blue/navy white and tan striped canvas tote with an anchor and the words Capri and Sorrento embroidered in gold thread. It cost $10 and I gave it away to my daughter-in-law thinking it would be easy enough to replace. Thought I would be able to Google the store and street location and find it easily enough.. Think it was on one of the little alleyways one block back from the main road down from Piazza Tasso, possibly Via San Cesareo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
