For a mobility enthusiast it is an absolute must if you are in Naples for work or pleasure.
A beautiful museum that you can visit comfortably in about 2 hours and that can be interesting even for people not passionate about the sector.
Noteworthy is the fantastic in-house cafeteria, great for brunch after a morning visit. Recommended arrival by train.

One of the most beautiful Museums I have seen, my wife and I were literally taken by this complex, kept very well and tidy with an amazing maintenance. The few cars we could visit were very well preserved and all shiny, very nice to see the staff all in uniform and moreover all nice as for example also the bar staff (very nice) inside, perhaps never before as this time the money spent to get in were spent so well, congratulations.

Pietrarsa Museum is the Mecca of every enthusiast! The property is beautiful, well maintained, beautiful. The rolling stock on display is all clean and boasts aesthetic restorations of the highest standard, but...
...but on the occasion of our visit, it was not possible to visit any means except for a prisoner transport wagon, a third-rail electromotor of the former Varesine and a steam locomotive. No railcars, no passenger wagons, no diesel locomotives, no other steam locomotives could be visited. And all despite the presence of entrance platforms, ladders and predellini on many vehicles. Everything closed, closed, which limited the experiential aspect of the visit: the smells, the spaces, the environments that were experienced by those who frequented those vehicles as passengers. Nothing: all shiny, all beautiful, all closed.
The modeling section, then, had no working model and, even, the large model the G scale was not even remotely approachable...
In short, a beautiful exhibition, in a wonderful, beautiful, well-kept place, with service personnel even in uniform, but absolutely an end in itself, humanly "empty".
While this museum enjoys undisputed prestige, it should also offer every visitor a high-level, concretely high-level experience. Otherwise it turns into a disappointing chic showcase that, in my opinion, is not worth the price of the ticket.
...maybe you could take a cue from the small and dusty railway museum of Puglia, in Lecce, where despite obvious management difficulties, the visitor (not necessarily passionate), comes out enriched...
I hope my experience is just related to an occasional, rainy, "no day" in the middle of winter...

I went here with a friend of mine and we stopped to eat a crepe... it was DELICIOUS!!!😋🧁

For train lovers it is a place not to be missed.
You are immersed inside the salon among dozens and dozens of steam locomotives and other vintage trains. You also have the opportunity to get into some of them and even some vintage wagons to visit them. In short, unique and fascinating place.

Beautiful museum, interesting and well maintained. Avoid eating at the bar where prices are exaggerated!! (2 euros for a decaf at the counter). Otherwise great and worth the visit.

Very interesting museum for location (first Italian train factory) and contents, pavilion with screaming steam locomotives with proper enhancement of the first steamer, unfortunately the pavilion with railway cars does not allow you to see them from inside (as happened instead in the Lecce museum), very beautiful area of the models with electric trains. Recommended for children of all ages.

The museum is magnificent and opens onto the Gulf of Naples the view is breathtaking. The trains take you back to a very fascinating Italy , the train of the Italian republic midnight blue color and with the interior with gold festoons and frescoes is worth the visit . Too bad about the Christmas markets , the cost rises enormously by sponsoring fake markets and children’s entertainment that lasts less than half an hour with elves screaming songs in English Maccarini or . The cost of the visit is 14 euros for adults and 6 for children of 3 years. What about not going there during the markets. Fortunately we are told that we have to have children but how do you spend 100 euros in a day at the museum, bringing lunch from home ?????

In this specific review that I refer only to the guided tour is not to all activities.
The guided tour is not worth doing, I do not know if we had the wrong guide but it seemed to me that the latter was in a hurry to explain the things that I could safely read on the signs and close (indeed I could probably read even more on the signs). Also left most of the group behind who were watching the different cars

Visit of 26.12.2024: the real prices for admission only are 16€ + 12€ full because it is mandatory museum visit + Christmas market; 7€ + 5€ reduced museum + market. Also on the flyer the price of the classic chimney is 5€ instead the price on the case is 6€... of course the price error is always in their favor. The only positive note: The museum is very nice!!
