La casa del Fauno è una delle case più vaste di Pompei ed è senz'altro un'icona proprio per la famosa statua che sorge nel giardino interno.
E' anche celebre per il mosaico della battaglia di Isso, sebbene l'originale sia conservato nel museo archeologico di Napoli.
La casa ha due atri e due peristili intorno ai quali si dispongono numerosi vani: alcuni di rappresentanza, decorati in modo eccezionale, altri riservati all’uso della famiglia, altri di servizio.

The statuette is at the center of the Villa, like many other houses is very interesting and well preserved, a wonder. Must-see places.

It is interesting to see the statue of the faun and the floor mosaic in its original setting, although the originals are now in the Archeological Museum in Naples.

The House of the Faun which takes its name from the faun statuette present there is one of the most fantastic attractions of the archaeological park.
The geometry of the spaces of the house is engaging and gives us the idea of a home of rich people.
Absolutely worth visiting!

In the chaos of the crowd visiting Pompeii on an August morning it is still possible to appreciate the elegant geometries of the largest house excavated in the archaeological site, which perhaps belonged to P. Silla, holder of important administrative roles in the city in the 1st century. BC. Perhaps it is important to immediately say that not much remains intact in this residence, to visit which a bit of study is practically obligatory (or a careful eye on the few identifying captions), and what is more significant - the Alexander Mosaic - is a copy of an original preserved in the Archaeological Museum of Naples. But the garden remains wonderful, the statue of the Faun in its center is always iconic, the shreds of architectural geometry that decorated the house are notable. To be visited together with the perhaps less elegant, but much more frescoed, nearby Casa dei Vettii.

Wonderful villa in Pompeii, if it is open it is a must visit even though a couple of the items are replicas of the original (Faun statue and Alexander mosaic). The front entrance is beautiful and the layout of the villa to handle both business and personal was very interesting. The mosaics in the house are very detailed and are indicative of a very prosperous owner.

I understand that the Mosaic of Alexander in the Casa del Fauno has been under renovation. Does anyone know when the renovation work will be done and reopen? I wanted to go this May 2024.
