Had much higher expectation for tasting and sampling with our visit and expected purchase.
This shop was a planned destination, many weeks prior to our departure for Italy! We entered on our own, no paid guide.
We arrived early. Patiently waited for opening, and in que. The shop is small, and while waiting outside, witnessed the attention the clerks took with the tasters ahead of us.
We are extraordinarily familiar with Balsamic of the region, and had high hopes in sampling from DOP producers previously elusive to us. We shared our familiarity and history of purchasing with our sales clerk, coincidentally shop manager, so she would be able to select appropriate tastings. Of the vast assortment on display, she selected, 1 at a time, first very basic young salad variety (truly NOT our goal), 1 young 6 yr production (ALSO, NOT a goal), 2 fifteen yr selections, and 1 25+ yr selection. We surmised this was her starting point. It was not. That was it. We requested other 25+ years tasting, the goal of our purchases, our goal was to purchase multiple bottles. Unfortunately, she was not interested or inclined to accommodate us with anything more than 1 more selection. The visit concluded with merely 2 bottles. We departed, deflated.
The following day, we chose to find Balsamic DOP producers in the region and did purchase our intended additional bottles, and in the end happier to spend our money directly with the house of the DOP producer.
Note to Producers:
It is spectacular that the consortium of DOP producers has this location and opportunity in the heart of Modena to showcase the product and to educate. However I would urge this illustrious group of producers to further investigate the selective service this shop is actually providing for them. It is my concern that if a customer cannot sample - specific to the intended purchase- the shop is providing dis-service.

I took my visitors from the US to taste balsamic vinegar in Modena and we choose this establishment, not realizing it was the place featured in Somebody Feed Phil, which I have watched several times. We had a great experience and my friends purchased a bottle to take home.

Staff were very helpful and taught us about the different balsamic vinegars and process of manufacturing. The tastings were beneficial to help us decide what to buy - they're all fabulous.

We visited this place as one of our must see balsamic tasting in Modena. This is a short walk from the big square. We were not disappointed and just walked in.the staff were friendly and attentive and gave us an insight into local producers of Balsamic. Ideally we would like to have been told the cost of our visit and the tasting before they started telling * us about the products €15 pp. however we enjoyed our couple of hours and were allowed to taste 4 vinegars which were all delicious. Purchase of any product then qualifies for the talk and taste charge to be refunded. On average a 100 ml bottle of Balsamic is €60 so we got one bottle and had our entry discounted. Worth a visit and easily found other places were closed so we have nothing to compare our experience with.

We went here for a balsamic wine tasting. The Consorteria only sells vinegar from 20 producer families who follow a strict protocol to make their product. And the Consorteria only sells 2 products from each family, a 12+ year old vinegar and a 25+ year old vinegar. We tried 5 different vinegars with the help of an extremely knowledgeable young woman who explained the different families, how the Consorteria operates, and how vinegars are regulated in Italy. Very, very interesting. We left buying her last 3 bottles of 25+ year old vinegars from the Roberto family. Can’t wait to get home and taste a few drops on some vanilla ice cream!

My friend and I had seen the store on the Netflix show Somebody Feed Phil and headed in, Patrizia the host was so knowledgeable and friendly, even let us grab gelato and come back to try it with a few drops of balsamic 😊

Perfect variety of balsamic vinegar. The host was very nice and knowledgeable. Who knew balsamic vinegar was made of grapes. We purchased the 140€ Vinegar from the Roberto family.

It was a very nice experience, the tasting was so nicely explained to us. The lady was very caring and we enjoyed every moment of it. I can highly recommend it if you are looking for the best vinegar ever and an unforgetable experience. We bought ours after tasting and we will for sure visit again. They also ship them all over europe.

Great experience tasting traditional balsamic vinegars from different producers. The PDO vinegars are such a different product than what we have known before! The staff was super nice, the tasting was great, super informative and the prices very reasonable.
