the Palazzo della Pilotta and 'beautiful including the Farnese theater, unfortunately we had a guide to forget, and then and' the first time we visit a palace with paintings where it is not' allowed to stop but the visit must be walking without stopping, I therefore wrote to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage in Rome for explanations, because' the first time it happens to me.

The exterior is a bit massive and without much charm; at least it is imposing by the entrance to the city'' that it offers for visitors who have parked at the nearby parking ''Toschi''.
Inside, the contemporary walkway arrangements, with visible tubular structures, fit very well into this museum/palace extending, in this area, the vision of the Farnese theatre (where both the hall and the backstage structures are visible).

1 November holiday: there are no guided tours, nor audio guides; the works on display have only very short descriptions; nothing more. You turn between environments without a minimum of explanation. In the age of QR codes and web descriptions, audio guides (also to be taken apart), it remains a stump experience. Would not stay there again....

We had no idea what to expect and left speechless with wonder after several hours. The large building of Palazzo della Pilotta houses several museums.
The huge 17th century theatre hall is impressive and beautiful.
The archaeological museum gives a well-designed overview from prehistory to antiquity.
And the old library gives you an idea of the value of books in the from the 14th century.
We talked to some of the volunteers there and everyone was very nice and happy to share your knowledge.
It was just great!!

Extremely interesting, the view of Teatro Farnese, inside the complex, is breathtaking. Do not miss the visit to the National Gallery.

This museum complex is a great visit. We began with the Teatro Farnese which is amazing to see, particularly if you’re interested in the construction. Next we walked through the national gallery where we saw Davinci’s La Scapiliata. Final stop was the Biblioteca.
We only spent about an hour, but I’m sure you could spend many more.

The complex takes its name from the ancient game of “pelota” that once took place in the courtyard of Palazzo Farnese. There are many important cultural spaces such as the Archaeological Museum, the National Gallery, the Farnese Theatre itself and the University of Parma. They deserve a visit of a few hours inside to discover fantastic treasures and masterpieces of Art History.

The palace is beautiful and the different sites to visit are interesting but the Award of 18€ is high for the time you spend there. We were very disappointed at the few works exhibited at the National Gallery. The theater is beautiful.
As for the Bodioni Museum and the library, the tour is quickly made. The archaeological museum is quite extensive but ancient works are not among our interests.
The next day we visited the Davia Bargellini Museum in Bologna which presents a beautiful collection of paintings and various objects. It was free and interested us much more.

Beautiful museum complex, huge to visit in one day. The defect and that inside given the size there is a decent refreshment point given the structure.

The visit to the different sections of the palace is very interesting... the theater inside great, the gallery of very beautiful paintings including works by Correggio, Parmigianino and Leonardo that deserve to be seen live, the section dedicated to Egyptian art always fascinating, the beautiful library, the museum of printing new as an idea, all with the addition of the staff inside very friendly and helpful to give information.
The only Recommendation about the printing museum: a video on how printing was carried out at the time would make it even clearer what is reported on the information panels in the room

Qualcuno può indicarmi cosa è assolutamente da vedere a Parma in un giorno? Vi sono parcheggi non a pagamento? I posti sono lontani tra loro?

Buon giorno. Pur essendo piccola, Parma offre molto. Noi avevamo solo un giorno e inevitabilmente abbiamo dovuto scegliere. Meglio godersi con calma un paio di visite (Palazzo della Pilotta, Cattedrale) come abbiamo fatto noi, ma fatte bene. Il parcheggio l’abbiamo trovato a pagamento in centro. Non ricordo parcheggi liberi almeno li. Probabilmente sono ai margini. Buona visita
