have been working with my boat for many years, and this is the only mortifying comment I have ever received. There are two issues: the idea that I would hit on girls that could be my daughters, and the price remark.
1. I would never hit on clients first, and of such a young age on top of it. I am not a formal person, and this shows also in the way I work. I really like to make my clients feel comfortable while in a fun and safe environment. I love to joke and show clients a bit of my soul, colture and way of life.
By no means, ever, anything said to any of my clients was of the nature you imply.
If I said something offensive without being aware of it, I am very sorry. I had no idea, as the mood during the time we got acquainted seemed to be friendly and cheerful, and I didn’t feel any awkwardness.
As I am the owner of my small business it would also be very counterproductive to behave in such a way.
2. My fees are always the same and for everybody. They are based on the number of passengers that book the boat, and the time slot. They are on the lower/mid-range of what it is charged for a similar service in the area. This is easily verifiable on the internet, through former comments, other companies pricing, etc
3. The girls asked for a lunch suggestion. I gave a few. Their boat skipper (a man in his early 20’s who is employed by me) and I decided to go to a specific restaurant and they decided to come along. The two of us paid for our own lunch. As we were working and it was hot, we ate little and did not drink any alcohol. Which is possibly why the girls paid more than us for their bill.
I believe there might be another reason for all of this: maybe an effort to get a refund/free trip? I hate to think that anyone would go to this length just for this…..
