Who visits Mantua? This was a great public space, especially since there was a food festival going on. lots of activity, music and restaurants.

We took a train from Verona to Mantua (47 minutes, every hour). First we walked to Palazzo Te which I highly recommend because of excellent frescoes. The we walked to the center of this rather small and quiet town. We arranged a private guide to visit palazzo Ducale. Palazzo consists of three main buildings and we would be lost on our own. They try to limit the amount of visitors in order to preserve the interior (especially in the Bridal Chamber), tickets are time stamped, We reserved ours in advance. The visit was interesting but a bit overwhelming and unfortunately the palazzo was ransacked centuries ago. The center of Mantua consists of three very pretty squares, otherwise we haven't noticed anything particularly interesting.

Gran bella piazza ricca di storia e di architetture monumentali: la casa del mercante in stile gotico orientaleggiante, la torre dell'orologio astrologico, la rotonda di San Lorenzo e altri bei loggiati con locali. Molto bella e frequentata anche alla sera.

Da Piazza Sordello in pochi minuti si arriva in Piazza delle Erbe. Un po’ il fulcro della città, piena di negozi, ristoranti dove mangiare qualcosa o fare un aperitivo. Qui si trovano alcuni edifici storici come Palazzo della Ragione, la torre dell’orologio e la Chiesa di San Lorenzo ( dove consiglio di entrare).

This is the heart of Verona. Every major point of interest is close to this. Verona is a great town,full of things for the eyes and unlike a lot of Italian stops this one is clean with minimal beggars

Nasce come foro boario per poi divenire una delle piazze più raffinate della città. Belli i portici tardogotici e rinascimentali che insieme ad altri pregevoli edifici, come la Rotonda di S. Lorenzo, il palazzo della Ragione, la torre dell'Orologio, la casa del mercante milanese Boniforte, rendono questo spazio cittadino molto attraente.

Sehenswerte Piazza! Besuchen einer vielen Restaurants oder Cafes und einfach dem Treiben zuschauen. Man lässt sich gerne von dem Charme der Altstadt fangen.

Anche Mantova ha la sua Piazza delle Erbe (come in molte altre città lombarde e venete con questo nome che indica il ruolo commerciale che aveva in passato). Circondata su tre lati da bellissimi portici ricchi di negozi e locali si trova il Palazzo della Ragione e la Torre dell'Orologio con il Museo del Tempo (Ho letto che l'orologio della torre è del 1473!).
