Fantastic house museum, in the heart of Milan, well managed by FAI. Highly recommended the visit.

The walk in the house is very interesting, although guided by an audio guide on the phone. The pieces are well described and commented. Picasso's collection is worth a visit

Villa Necchi is a historic residence of the 1930s, built by the famous business family in the San Babila area, in the historic center of Milan. Now a house-museum, the property is managed by Fai and can be visited independently or with guided tours at fixed times. Surrounded by a beautiful garden with swimming pool, among other things the first private pool built in Milan, it is also equipped with a tennis court, where events are occasionally organized. Also in the Villa garden there is a lovely café while the classic bookshop is located at the entrance. Returning to the Villa and the visit of its interiors, among the most scenic rooms I would mention the library, the living room and the conservatory, all located on the mezzanine floor. Going up to the first floor there are the master bedrooms and those for guests, with their bathrooms, designed according to a precise pattern that is repeated each time. Filled with objects, not all traceable to the Villa, it will be much appreciated by lovers of decorative arts. Visit overall pleasant.

I found Milan to be rather grey, although the new buildings inject a little oomph into what appears to be a fairly staid city. Obviously a 24h experience is fairly limiting and being there on a Monday and Tuesday, Villa Necchi, which was what I had been hoping to see, was closed. So in the end I did a lot of walking and decided to visit the Botanical Gardens, tucked away in the heart of the city. They were small, admittedly, but there were plenty of seats in the shade (tramping the streets of any city in the heat is tiring, to say the least), and the plants were labelled and information was available - also a loo, which is always useful

Really can't add much more to existing reviews, but highly recommend visiting. Amazing level of trust to have so many artifacts & antiques not behind glass or ropes. A wonderful insight into a very privileged Italian lifestyle.

Beyond the extensive reviews already posted on this unique villa in the heart of Milan, I’d like to add a few additional observations. 1. Very knowledgeable docents at the villa answered several questions I had about design issues and contradictions in the building and its furnishings that went beyond the objects and addressed the changes to mores in post-WWII Italy. 2. Amazing degree of preservation. 3. Remarkable number of original objects throughout the villa. Hard to imagine the trust/courage to allow the general public into such a site!

The tour takes place approx every hour. I suggest you contact them through their mail address you can find on their web site. I know they organize tours also in the English language.

I found your reviews very helpful. Can I get advance tickets to the Villa Necchi or was it easy to just go and purchase.

Is the house only accessible with a guided tour? One of the reviews mentioned Sunday afternoons (times?) are possible without a guided tour - is this correct?

My experience is that there are tour times / limited number of people admitted but accessible. You might want to check when you arrive in Milan about accessibility (hotel concierge) but I think you can get in with ease....I don't remember having an issue and I've been twice.
