We had half an hour to kill before our table was ready for dinner so we popped into this local bar in Via Orti, randomly themed as a U2 tribute bar.
“There’s a concert starting in a minute if you want to take a look”. Sure enough in a covered courtyard three charmingly out of tune country blues crooners were singing Take Me Home Country Roads watched by their admiring friends and grandparents. As the crowd was a bit thin we stayed for a couple of numbers out of sympathy. That was our mistake. When we came to leave our two glasses of wine had mysteriously cost us €20.
“It’s a special price when you watch the concert.” said the rather antagonistic barman, clearly channelling Bono on a bad day. Sure. “It says so on the door, you must have missed it”. We looked. Nothing on the door. By now his staff were starting to look embarrassed, staring at the floor. “Where are you from?” demanded Bad Bono. London. “Well a cup of coffee costs €5 in Amsterdam” he said triumphantly. Whatever. I’ve been chiselled in better joints than this.
I guess as U2 tribute bars go, I just haven’t found what I’m looking for...

Ero in zona e volevo mangiare qualcosa veloce e semplice. Non c'era quasi nessuno ma le cameriere sembravano molto impegnate. Gentilmente mi hanno fatto guardare il menu, con tante birre, centrifugue, panini, pizze, etc. Ho ordinato la birra analcolica, non c'era, poi una centrifuga, visto la lunga lista della frutta, ma alla fine solo c'era mela, carote e zenzero. Ho chiesto per la piadina ortolana, che nel menu era 4.50 euro. Il cameriere, che mi parlava della barra, mi chiesto si aveva grossa fame o no, e mi ha consigliato il piatto di piadina perché era più grande e ha detto costa un po di più. Ho detto che si, tutto bene ma quando pago noto che tutto era un po di più (avevo dimenticato il dettaglio della piadina più grande in piatto). Tutte questa gente molto impegnata sono riusciti a venire a farmi notare che già me lo avevano fatto notare e che, alla fine, era meglio così. Quello che mi ha dispiaciuto di più era che non solo non c'era niente di quello nel menu ma non c'era menzione alla piadina in piatto con un prezzo di 6 euro.
