You don't need to arrive very early. We arrived maybe half an hour early and we were also able to choose seats that pleased us, maybe 2nd or 3rd row, which was perfect. The thing is, the streets are tiny and it can be confusing to find where you need to be. I recommend finding it sometime earlier on the day or earlier in your trip so you will recognize it.
