This clock tower is definitely the highlight of our visit to Messina and a must see! For just 5 euros each you can take the stairs up the tower, each level also shows the different mechanisms that operate the statues that go round at each section. There is also a information board on each level which provides the interesting history of the tower. Once at the very top you can walk round the whole clock face to get a 360 view of the surrounding area which is stunning. Also wait for the hour and quarter hour chimes of the bells and you might see some of the mechanisms move depending on the time.

Nice chirch and bell tower. At noon the statues begin to move and make different sounds.In summer Try to find a space in the shade because it was too hot and it lasts about 15/20 mins

Es interesante ir a las 12 para ver toda la parafernalia del reloj es chulo, pero a mi me pareció lento y largo, creo que es mejorable. No entramos a la torre.

Antichissimo ed unico nel suo genere un meccanismo perfetto che dura da centinaia di anni.
Si vedono i meccanismi che muovono le figure dorate e dalla torre si gode un magnifico panorama della città di Messina.

E' la seconda volta che assisto a mezzogiorno allo spettacolo dell'orologio astronomico. E' suggestivo e imponente, bellissime le statue che si muovono accompagnate dai suoni e al termine dall'Ave Maria.
Molto bello da vedere.

Fantastic bell tower, telling the story of Messina. Be there at noon to see all the moving parts. Situated on a nice square with caféS and restaurants. Worth seeing.
Have some arrancini for lunch aftewards!

Wish we had been there at Noon to see the clock in action

The bell tower and astronomical clock are attractive and interesting. Sadly we were there in mid-afternoon when the clock was not "performing".

Geweldig om dit spektakel om 12 uur 's middags mee te maken. Lees je wel van te voren in over wat er te zien en te horen valt. Je kunt ook de toren beklimmen maar deze is maar beperkt open.

L'orologio astronomico di Messina è l'attrazione turistica principale. Si tratta infatti dell'unica attrazione cittadina con orari di apertura decenti e veramente turistici. Da vedere e rivedere.
