We stayed one August afternoon, hot day, we hoped for a cool and interesting visit...-1) structure without air conditioning- you died- even the audio narrator and the film turned off because the machines were overheated- 2) once the tour began- you have to continue for 1 hour and a half- guided tour with must-see stops-
Personally I was very disappointed- the Guide and 'was good but really too long with those temperatures- they put you on a video and you have to see it all- warm- only the last 5 minutes are beautiful- that you go in the spoils (moreover with dirty water-there was a spill a few years ago from a tank above and they never came to reclaim)... shame- honestly there is much better in Siena- so it does not go!

When booking (which was really complicated) we found contradictory information about whether this was an Italian-only tour or could be translated. But ultimately on the booking page, it asked us what language we would be touring in, and I selected English, assuming that would be the correct information.
We arrived this morning and were greeted by an incredibly rude woman who was clearly annoyed that we were expecting an English tour. She made us feel embarrassed for even being there and we immediately thought about leaving. There was a man there who’d booked an Italian tour at the same time so she started guiding him around in Italian and at the same time playing an English translation of what she was saying on her phone - which was totally inaudible under the sound of her voice.
Then another staff member arrived who was tasked with touring us around using a phone with English recordings on it. She was lovely and did her best to show us around, but we were sped through and it seemed like she might not regularly give tours. Ultimately we sat and looked at two exhibits (out of many more) and listened to an English translation which was hard to hear over the automatic Italian audio behind the videos that make up the exhibits. During one of these the first woman who’d greeted us came and started speaking at her colleague very disruptively and again drowning out any sound we could hear. There were also other exhibits that had English translations on them we would have liked to read and look at, but we were consistently told “follow me” after our episodes of what was basically a podcast, and were not given the time to look at anything.
Then we were shown the original tunnels which were interesting and we would have liked to ask questions, but unfortunately our tour guide didn’t speak much English. All of this would have been fine if we hadn’t selected that we wanted a tour in English - it was a very misleading tour and the booking website is not to be trusted!
Our tour should have lasted 1 hour 15 minutes. It ended after 35 minutes.
Other reviewers seem to have had a better time with English tours here - maybe it was a staffing issue. Whatever the problem, they need to make it much clearer on their website whether or not they actually provide English language tours (and just generally improve their customer service). We felt really disappointed, embarrassed and annoyed leaving today - none of which we conveyed because frankly we were a bit scared of that first woman (the woman who showed us round was much nicer!!).
The tunnels were good to see and there was some good information about them when were able to hear it, which is why we’ve given this 2 stars and not 1, but ultimately we had a bit of a 1 star morning.

Located in the beautiful Fonte di Pescaia, the Water Museum is small but truly beautiful. A stone's throw from the centre, equipped with parking and with online booking directly from the Municipality of Siena website. The museum is beautiful, the Source and the Loot are beautiful.
A big applause to Francesca (the guide), really helpful and prepared!

An enjoyable visit to find out more about a hidden aspect of Siena's history. We booked tickets online easily the day before and it was just the two of us and our guide Martina who was very helpful in explaining the exhibits in English so that we understood the story of the bottini and how they were made. Allow 15 mins or so to walk there from the city centre depending where you park etc.

A little out of the way, this museum traces the drinking water supply of Siena from the Middle Ages to the present day. We discover how Renaissance engineers designed an entire network of aquifer waters. As a bonus, the guided tour ends with the discovery of a small part of this network called bottini

The exhibition ranges with different and interactive exhibition methods through the geological, historical and human history of Siena. In short, a wonderful experience, like some trips to the natural science museum when I was a child. Plus you enter in small groups (it is advisable to book) and there are conglomerate-shaped cushions.
The source of Pescaia is a jewel but also an undervalued place, it deserves more care from its city.

Fantastic way to learn how Siena was able to grow as a competitor to Florence through an innovative, unique way of supplying water to the entire city through a 25 km tunnel system.
Informative and interactive exhibition, please book in advance, limited number of places available per time.
Should be a 'must see' in Siena. Worthy of being added as a UNESCO world heritage site.

Molto interessante e guida/accompagnatrice preparata e gentile! Vale la visita ma è meglio prenotare perché vi si accede a gruppi di max 10 persone

Bravi Bravi! museo originale, coinvolgente e super interessante!
