I found a lot of this museum very interesting as someone interested in biology, & they had a very large range of animals. It’s fascinating to see the sizes of these animals in person, since sometimes you don’t appreciate how large/small organisms are until you see them in person.
I don’t think i’d necessarily visit it again, but that’s not to say that it was a bad experience. I think it’s more suitable for families with young children

A visit in this museum is an experience The animals are shown in an artistic designed envirement, stylic colours are mixed with interesting facts. And a little humor is found when you realize some birds wear glasses. Must see!

This place houses an incredibly diverse collection of animals, and a great effort is put into its ambience. It caters to both adults and children with 3 floors to explore. My only critique is that the labels and signs were exclusively written in French.

Musée très sympa, les enfants ont adoré admirer les animaux !
Attention les 2 derniers étages sont en rénovation avec une ouverture partielle en 2026 et totale en 2027.

Easy to get to by public transport.
The museum is spread over three floors. Unfortunately there are no audio guides but there are instructions in English on the displays.
There are an amazing number of exhibits of taxidermy as with any Natural History Museum. A star attraction is Janus on the third floor, the only living exhibit. Janus is a 26 year old tortoise with two heads, two hearts, two pair of lungs and it is said he also has two different personalities. He is very cute as well.
The cafeteria serves limited hot food and as long as you buy something from there, you can use a designated area to have your own food as well.
We spent around 3 hours at the place and the kids had a lovely time exploring the museum. Certainly a good indoors activity on a rainy day.

Sehr empfehlenswert, vor allem mit Kindern , tolle Ausstellung und mit Google Übersetzer sind auch die französischen Beschreibungen kein Problem mehr .

Firstly, a lot of the reviews on TripAdvisor are for the History and Art Museum which is a completely different museum. We went there first but this Natural History museum was much more interesting, and the staff don’t shout at you for breathing.
The animals were fantastic, there are 5 floors so allow 2-3 hours but there is a cafe on one of the floors (Geneva is expensive for food and this doesn’t break that trend.) Admission is free and there are restrooms plus plenty of chairs dotted around (we loved the cushioned bench on the top floor next to the recently added wolf.)
Most of the taxidermy is done really well, although you will spot a monkey or lion that wasn’t done by an expert, you’ll know what I mean when you see them.
Overall, it’s up there as a not-to-be-missed with the Jet, the Cathedral and the zoo to the south.
