We did this hike on our second day in Wengen even though fog and clouds obstructed 95 % of the view. It was so enjoyable that we repeated the hike the next morning when it was much, much clearer and it was truly glorious to behold. My favorite hike in the world now. Another plus was that we met no one on the trail 2 days in a row!

This a great 4 mile hike with a lot of elevation change. You are treated to spectacular mountain views from the start and they never stop. The hike ends at Alpinglen where you can catch the train down to Grindelwald. Lots of downhill sections and you cross under the Eiger Express cable car line. You may even encounter some free roaming cows along the way!

PROS
• The most amazing hike that I've done- it deserves more than five stars
* The most fantastic Incredible non stop scenic views
• Breathtaking mesmerizing iconic towering snow capped humongous gigantic mountains in full view in front for the entire ke 5 kilometer hike
• Not too long (up to two hour depending on photo, rest and picnic lunch stops) and easy to do- a gradual descent
• Starts at a self service restaurant (Mannlichen) and end at another restaurant (Kleine Scheidigg)
CONS
• Very popular, so can be crowded
• Minimal- if any- protection from the sun
“I VISITED THIS PLACE”…
… because it is so fantastic and incredible and iconic that I needed to bring the 30 year old here. It was at least my third time doing the hike.
It is a wide enough trail and very interesting- it is curvy and is a slow and gradual descent.
The views the entire way are jaw-dropping spectacular and tremendous
WAS IT WORTH THE COST?
The hike itself is free and the ascent to Mannlichen via gondola from Wengen and cable car from Grindelwald is covered by the Berner Oberland Pass.
WOULD "I VISIT THIS PLACE" AGAIN?
For sure- I've been here and hiked this trail at least three times
ADVICE
* Of course ascend to Mannlichen and hike to Kleine Scheidigg (do not do it uphill and in reverse with the mountain views to your back)
* Be prepared to be stunned and overwhelmed
* Enjoy and take many photos
* Please look at my many descriptive and "helpful" 👍photos which are attached here

An easy walk from Maennlichen to Kleine Scheidegg with awesome views of the mountains. A good flat trail for hikers of every ability.

We did this trail in July and it was wonderful. We aren’t big hikers so this was a good test and intro to hiking. The views were amazing and the trails weren’t too awfully busy. There is so much to see and it took us more like 3 hours just because we did stop to check things out. The best part was the surprise Cow’s we got to walk through on one part. Must do while you are in Interlaken/Grindewald area.

Flat walk, about 1.5 hr with a 10 year old. Gravel path, well-marked. If you walk from Männlichen toward Kleine Scheideg, the big peaks are in front of you. There's a decent restaurant with a great view on the KS end, as well as transport toward Lauterbrunnen or Grindelwald, and on the Männlichen end there's a cable car to Wengen and some services. There was usually at least one other hiking group in sight, mostly going toward KS, at 0930-1100 in June.
All told its quite an easy hike with great views. Recommended unless you're prepared for harder hikes which I presume can be even more impressive and peaceful.

Lovely walk but after doing another walk at Gorgnergrat at Zermatt, down to Riffelberg, this walk great but was not quite up to that standard.
The views are terrific but you get these pretty much all the way and don’t see much more than you do at Kleine Scheidegg itself (the best spot of all)
Quite quiet when we were there from Mannlichen but it got busier towards the KS end.
Well worth doing though.I’d be a bit wary of very young children on the Mannlichen end and would not be letting them walk on their own as the balcony path has a steep drop off most of the way initially.
Unfortunately they don’t allow discounts on the cable cars etc unless you do a return to and from the same station.We wanted to go up to Mannlichen then return to Grindelwald via Kleine Scheidegg or Eigergletscher but while you can do this by buying two singles, the substantial discounts don’t apply.Seems a bit odd given the walking trails which allow that very thing.

In 90 Min läuft man fast immer leicht bergab vom Männlichen auf die Kleine Scheidegg. Das Panorama auf die Eigernordwand ist nirgends spektakulärer als auf diesem Weg. Auch der Mönch, die Jungfrau und das Silberhorn lassen gefallen. Den Weg habe ich nicht zum letzten Mal gemacht. Ein „must“ wenn man im Berner Oberland ist.

Had planned to stay in Grindelwalda for 5 days keeping mind visit to jungfrau,Grindelwald first and surrounding regions.
Manlichen was of course a priority but never thought we could spend a whole day and still run short of time.
The approach to the top point was simple to take gondola ride directly from
Terminal or take a scenic route train from Grindelwald to klien schieddag and than manlichen.
We tried both options and train journey.of.course has the unique vista to it.This is must.
Once on top ..we took the trail to Panaroma point ( to and fro )about 120 mts.
Had fantastic view of Lauterbrunnen valley on one side and Wenger.
Also tried high speed gondola from Manlichen to wenger ..which drops 1250 mtr.in matter of 6.mts.ajd with an open to sky view on gondola called Royal Sky experience.
An amazing day at Manlichen..
