Nach dem Studium der deutschen Website (Museum>Sammlungen) erwarteten wir ein Feuerwerk an Impressionisten und Postimpressionistinnen. Diese Sammlungen sind aber so gut wie nie asgestellt. Lediglich eine Sonderausstellung eines depressiven belgischen Malers war zu sehen, Geschmackssache.
Generell ist so gut wie nichts auf Deutsch oder gar Englisch angeschrieben. Wer also das französische Wort für Zeppelin nicht kennt, versteht u.U. nicht jeden Bildtitel. Die Fondation erweckt in ihrem Werbeauftritt m.E. den Eindruck eines grossartigen Kunstmuseums, das es in keiner Art und Weise zu halten weiss - ausser beim Preis. Wer etwas besseres sicht, dem empfehlen wir Winterthur oder Baden, dort werden auch Werke in Villen ausgestellt - mit wesentlich mehr Charme und Weltoffenheit.

Even though we visited near the end of November this location was still stunning. The fall colors were holding on--yellows, oranges, reds and greens. The Hermitage includes a cafe (with excellent food, coffee, and atmosphere), restrooms, fruit orchard, and trails through the hard woods. It sits on the hilltop within an old neighborhood near the city center, so it is a wonderful walk to and from and during!

This museum which is housed in a former manor house with garden and woodland and sweeping views over Lausanne including cathedral and beyond to Lake Geneva.As a consequence it is a series of rooms over four floors the middle two with expansive windows which provide light and a feeling of open space
They always have unusual exhibitions,often a significant number from private collections.
We had the privilege of visiting and discovering a neoimpressionist called Achille Lauge,who belonged to same era as Paul Signac,George Seurat and Henri Edmond Cross,and whose works are of highest quality and more than match these famous artists
The main features of Neo-impressionism are a faith in science and color science, the use of bright colors and of a special technique (optical mixture) aimed at giving more luminosity to colors; this technique, which implies a mechanical application of the brushstroke to create strictly formalised compositions was also intended to suppress the skill of the hands in what is called divisionism.Whereas the Impressionist painters spontaneously recorded nature in terms of the fugitive effects of color and light

Belles expositions dans une ancienne demeure dominant la ville et le lac. Un cadre superbe en surplomb d'un parc simple et agréable où trônent quelques splendides vieux arbres .
Le prix d'entrée du musée est assez cher, mais les expositions temporaires sont de qualité et les thématiques bien pensées.
NB : Le parking n'est certes pas tout proche, mais cela préserve la tranquillité du lieu. Aucune raison de ne pas s'y rendre avec les transports publiques lausannois qui desservent très bien la ville. Arrêt du bus tout proche.
Le prix d'entrée du musée est assez cher, mais les expositions temporaires sont de qualité et les thématiques bien pensées.

It was great to return to the Hermitage for the wonderful exhibition of masterpieces from the Bemberg Collection, a private foundation based in Toulouse, France. I had never heard of it before so it was a revelation. There was an eclectic selection which started and ended with a bang. The first room was an exquisitely displayed series of early portraits by artists such as Clouet. The last part of the exhibition downstairs displayed some of the best works of the largest private collection of Bonnard paintings. Unfortunately, by the time of writing, the exhibition is over so happy I found out about it time (sorry folks).

Faisant partie de " l'Association des pastellistes Belges" et étant de passage à Lausanne entre le 17 au 24 juin 2018 avec un groupe de +ou- 24 personnes , je souhaiterais connaitre les dates de l'exposition sur " Le Pastel " .
Quelles sont les heures d'ouverture de " L'Ermitage" ?
Y a t'il un parking pour car ?
Tarif de groupe et modalités de réservation ?

They have rotating exhibitions and I believe the cost varies - It was quite standard for a small art exhibition - there is a lovely cafe which is outside in a separate building, where I had a lovely break from looking at the art - wonderful to sit in the garden and have an elegant lunch with quality as high as a good restaurant in Lausanne
