My husband and I took 3 private full day tours with Swiss Privae Tours, Bernese Oberland, Colmar/Eguishein, and Lucerne & surrounding areas. The tours were exceptional and the highlight of our 3 weeks in Europe. Sal, the company owner, driver and tour guide is extremely knowledgeable of the area and treats his customers like family, taking the time to show them the most wonderful spots for photography. He also adjusts the itinerary for weather conditions so that you can have the best possible experience. Sal truly cares about making your time with him outstanding and he does not disappoint. We were in constant awe of the innumerable absolutely gorgeous spots he brought us to and saw more beautiful nature and scenery in a day with him than in an entire week on a river cruise. We would recommend Sal and Swiss Private Tours, which is run out of Zurich, without reservation for an extraordinary experience in Switzerland.

Some journeys leave an imprint on your heart, and our three days with Sal of Swiss Private Tours was one of those experiences. From the very beginning, we knew we were in the hands of someone who didn’t just know Switzerland – he lived and breathed it, weaving its history, culture, and breathtaking beauty into every moment. What we expected to be just a tour became something much deeper: a connection with the soul of Switzerland.
Day 1: From the Thunder of the Falls to the Stillness of Zurich
Our first day began at the thundering Rhine Falls, where nature's sheer power engulfed our senses. Standing there, watching the mighty waters crash down, Sal led us to the perfect vantage point. He didn’t just show us the falls – he made sure we felt them. Then, we stepped into the tranquil, almost dreamlike town of Stein Am Rhein, a place that seemed frozen in time, with its frescoed houses telling tales of centuries past. Sal had an instinct for finding beauty in every corner.
Lunch at Raffles Singapore was an unexpected oasis – an elegant contrast to the wild beauty of the morning. But it was when we reached the peak of Rigi Kulm that the world seemed to expand in a way words can’t fully capture. Visiting Switzerland was an incredible experience! Four of us traveled from the USA to spend a week there. We spent 3 of those days with Sal from Swiss Private Tours. Sal’s wealth of knowledge of his country was amazing. He planned an itinerary that showed us so many beautiful places, but he was also flexible when we wanted to tweak things a bit! Highly recommended!!

Sal is the ultimate custom tour guide as he truly adjusts to your needs & changing conditions. Switzerland’s weather in late September & October changes quickly especially in the mountains & Sal was invaluable in guiding us to comparable equally enjoyable alternatives. Moreover, Sal was very knowledgeable about Switzerland & neighboring countries and generous in sharing his knowledge. It was indeed a joy to have been with Sal for the 2 days of custom tour with him; we’d wanted to do more tours with him but he was fully booked. We can honestly say that Sal is our best custom tour guide - an honest & very capable man - so he’ll be our go-to-guide when we return to Switzerland.

We had an amazing day with Swiss Private Tours. Sal was a wonderful tour guide who very obviously loves what he does. His communication during the booking process and leading up to our tour was excellent. He was very flexible and went out of his way to take us to some of the most beautiful places! Sal has some serious skills as a photographer and we appreciated the time he took to take some great photos of our group. If you are looking for a tour guide in Switzerland we would very highly recommend!

We came across Sal’s profile off Google and proceeded to book a tour to various locations around Zurich for a day trip.
Sal is extremely professional, very knowledgeable and personable.
My husband and I spent the entire day with Sal, he took us to some non traditional tourist spots that we would otherwise missed.
He communicated via WhatsApp from the day I engaged with rebooking until after the trip, sharing great tips and history.
We certainly recommend Sal to anyone visiting Switzerland and wants to see the true beauty and grandeur.
Icing on the cake- he takes great pictures.
He shares heartwarming stories of his family and lineage along the way.

I cannot say enough good things about Swiss Private Tours and Sal! I booked 2 tours for my 84 yr old parents: “Zurich City Tour” and the “Inner Switzerland” tour. I decided to go with Swiss Private Tours because 1) my parents both have limited mobility/difficulty walking and 2) they are not regular international travelers & are not very “in touch” with the digital world. I needed to find someone who would give them that little bit of extra patience & care they were going to need. Sal and Swiss Private Tours exceeded all my expectations/hopes in that regard!
Sal very helpful in the planning phase, answering my many questions and giving solid guidance. But where he really stood out was when things went sideways with my parents during their trip; he was absolutely amazing.
First, due to their advanced age and the fact that Zurich was their last stop on an extended trip, they got worn out and needed to cancel one of the 2 tours just days before it was scheduled so they could recover. Although we were well past the “refundable” date, Sal was terrific in working with us to find a fair resolution for all. I was extremely happy with how this turned out.
Secondly, the day before my parents were set to arrive in Zurich we learned that they would be unexpectedly delayed and would not arrive until well after 1am the night before they were supposed to tour. When this happened, it was already after working hours in Zurich and I was concerned that I wouldn't even be able to get in touch with anyone at Swiss Private Tours before the 8am pickup. Not to worry; Sal answered the phone after hours and within minutes had arranged to postpone their tour by one day with no problem. They were able to rest that day, experienced the “Inner Switzerland” tour the next day (customized to accommodate their difficulty walking), and had an amazing time with Sal.
All of us have only great things to say about Sal and Swiss Private Tours!

It is indeed a wonderful learning private tour experience with Sal of Swiss Private Tour. We are just fortunate to have Sal as our tour guide for he is very accommodating and a very good educator too. Besides showing us the overwhelming breathtaking view of the places we visited(CLOY, Lucerne etc), he also taught us how to take good pictures. He is a tour guide and a pro photographer at the same time. Just perfect for travelers who would like to experience a tour that is more relaxed enjoyable and educational too. I would highly recommend Sal of Swiss Private Tour without hesitation. I just wished we had more time to spend in this amazing beautiful Switzerland... Danke... bis bald...

Sal took my wife, 3 kids and I on a private tour, initially to Rhein falls to see the beautiful waterfalls and if time permitted to see a medieval village on the sores of the Rhine river.
Time certainly did permit, with Sal taking us to Stine am Rhein, a small village on the banks of the Rhine river dating back to the middle ages where we took in the painted wooden facades, town square and sampled in my mind, the best sausage in Europe – the Olma Grillschublig and washed it down with some delicious local glühwein.
From there Sal asked if we had any time constraints with our day, which we did not, so we were taken to a local lookout for a scenic view over lake Zurich and the greater city of Zurich before heading again out of town to the district of Einsiedeln, known for its monastery, the Benedictine Einsiedeln Abbey, established in the 10th century.
We ended up spending best part of our day with Sal in what was a very enjoyable, intimate and learned experience. Sal is an absolute gentleman who treated our family as his own. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Swiss Private Tour and Sal.

Sal was an incredible tour guide. He had the perfect day planned for us, taking into consideration the weather. We arrived in Engelberg and had a magnificent horse and carriage ride with an engaging host. Our son had a stomach ailment during the trip which necessitated taking him back to our Zurich hotel and Sal was unequivkcably gracious about all of this, coming up with an alternative plan for the afternoon and even helping us find a pharmacy which proved critical. He helped us find the points of interest in Lucerne and we were able to save the day. We feel incredibly fortunate to have had Sal as our tour guide.
