The trigger for our visit was the announcement of the puzzle course "True or False"? Can you tell the difference between truth and lies?
We were expecting something on the subject of "fake news" and how to check the veracity of news. This exciting topic was worth a 300 km drive for us.
But all we found were a few blue pieces of paper with boring questions in a classic, small natural history museum.
The teenager found the exhibits preserved in formalin (e.g. fetuses) rather creepy.
The exhibition is no longer contemporary. The Stapferhaus in Lenzburg or the Technorama in Winterthur show how themed exhibitions should be set up in 2023.

Leider waren aufgrund der Schutzmassnahmen die interaktiven Objekte und Bildschirme gesperrt, weshalb es vorallem um Wissensvermittlung ging. Die Entstehung des Menschen vom Embryo bis zum Erwachsenen ist sehr eindrücklich und über vieles was ausgestellt ist kann man nur staunen!

Wir waren heute an einer Führung von einer Weiterbildung der PHZH. Ich war überrascht wie unglaublich interessant dies war. Dies ist vorallem der
Frau zu verdanken, die uns darüber erzählt hat. Sehr klar mit einfacher Sprache und spannend. Ich überlege mir nun, das Thema mit meiner Klasse anzupacken.

Отличный музей. Были в пятницу сразу после открытия. Кроме нас была еще одна русская семья. Отличная выставка по восприятию звуков, назначению ушей у людей и животных, способам борьбы с нарушениями слуха. Все наглядно-тактильное. Похоже на московский музей "Живые системы". Для маленьких детей микроскопическая зона для игры. Место для еды, но буфета нет. Есть автоматы с кофе и снеками. Есть раздел про человека, но весь на немецком. Подвальный этаж тоже на немецком, но тема эволюции наглядна и взрослые могут справиться при помощи школьных знаний. Советую посетить.

Herzlichen Dank für Ihren Besuch. Es freut uns, dass Ihnen das Museum gefallen hat. Die Sonderschau "Unterwegs im Ohr" ist zweisprachig: deutsch und englisch. In der Dauerausstellung gibt es nur englischsprachige Zusammenfassungen, ansonsten ist alles auf deutsch beschriftet. Und wie Sie feststellten ist vieles mit etwas Schulwissen selbsterklärend.

This museum is very interesting to visit as it takes you back to the origins of life. Not to spoil the joy of discovering, I will just mention fossils, skeletons, mummies (both humans and animals) plus many more.
The only thing that might not be as appealing is that everything is in German, but before deciding not to go: even if you don't know the language, it should still be visited as there are many amazing things there. I know a bit of german but my boyfriend doesn't know any and he still enjoyed it at full.
We met this amazing lady that works there that offered guidance and explanations on everything (sorry I am so bad at names but she is British by roots).
P.S: the admission is free if you have purchased the Zürich Card.
Hope you will enjoy it as much as we did!

Das Museum hat uns allen sehr gut gefallen. Die Kinder konnten im oberen Stock vieles ausprobieren. Überraschenderweise blieben sie sehr lange und es war sehr spannend für sie. Das Highlight war die Schwangerschaftsschürze. Mit der konnten sie besser nachvollziehen wie es sich anfühlt schwanger zu sein. Das war toll und lustig.

Musée très intéressant et interactif. Idéal avec des enfants pas trop jeunes. Notre fille de 9 ans a bcp aimé et nous aussi. L’exposition est en allemand mais il est possible de suivre même avec des bases scolaires de romands. A conseiller

Nous avons visité l'exposition sur la nourriture à travers les âges. Elle était intéressante et variée. Nous retournerons volontiers dans ce musée.

The temporary exhibition on the history of food is poor destined to 4 year olds. We specifically ask at the entrance if the exhibition have other swiss languages than German or english, they tell us the there is english. Once inside there was nothing in English, maybe one panel....also the permanent exposition is exclusively in German.

Dear FCBTravel, Our special exhibition about the history of food is primarily designed for adults and major children, but can be explained to smaller children by parents or other experienced adults. There is a self-guided tour in English available at the entrance oft this exhibition and all activities are equally explained in detail in German and English. In the permanent display of the KULTURAMA, there are some English translations and you can get a short guide in English at the museum desk.
