De binnenstad met zijn leuke, aparte winkeltjes in Zwolle is een prachtig uitje dat beslist in de smaak zal vallen!

Impresionante puerta de entrada a la ciudad que refleja los momentos de gran esplendor comercial de la ciudad allá por el s. XV. Después de su uso como punto de control de entrada a la ciudad durante siglos, pasó a ser cárcel y luego archivo hasta que hace pocas décadas fue adquirida de nuevo por el gobierno, restaurada y convertida en monumento nacional. Se puede visitar por dentro por el "módico" precio de 5€. Se puede ascender hasta arriba y ver el reloj. En las diversas plantas hay pequeñas exposiciones que te explican la historia de la torre y la ciudad. Por desgracia toda la cartelería solo en holandés.

The Sassenport is a striking medieval tower dating back to 1409. It is one of the remaining parts of the mostly destroyed city walls.
At certain times the Sassenport is open to climb. It has four small floors worth of interesting exhibits along the way up, and visitors are provided with a flyer pointing out the most interesting features of the building. On the top floor you can catch a glimpse of the clock mechanisms and swinging pendulum. (The clock dates to the early 1700s.)
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a visit to anyone who was visiting the region and it's certainly a must-see while in Zwolle.

De Sassenpoort lag op de route van onze stadswandeling en we besloten deze te bezichtigen. Voor €5,- kregen we een interessante uitleg over het ontstaan van Zwolle en over de poorten die de stad rijk was in het verleden. Daarna mochten we zelf door naar boven om de rest van de toren te bezichtigen. Op enkele plaatsen heb je prachtig uitzicht over Zwolle. De ruimtes op zich zijn ook voorzien van interessante informatie. Zo was het ooit een gevangenis en een notarieel archief. Voor dat prijsje zeker de moeite waard!

Giungere nel centro storico di Zwolle passando attraverso la Porta dei Sassoni fa davvero un certo effetto. Sembra quasi di essere stati catapultati in un’altra epoca, oppure in una fiaba con castelli e principesse. L’edifico risale all’inizio del XV secolo. Era stato originariamente pensato come struttura difensiva, ma venne utilizzata come prigione dall’inizio del XVII secolo fino al 1739. La guglia in stile neogotico che funge da torre dell’orologio è più recente, essendo stata realizzata durante la ristrutturazione avvenuta tra il 1893 e il 1898. Un vero e proprio simbolo per questa città favolosa, che consiglio a tutti di visitare.

We hebben de Sassenpoort alleen van de buitenkant bezichtigd, dat is ook leuk!
Mooi dat het zo goed bewaard is gebleven van de historie, leuk om even te informatieborden te lezen.

Nice way to start the visit in the city.

Der Sassenpoort ist das größte Bollwerk der Befestigungen der alten Festungsstadt Zwolle. Sehr sehenswert und imposant gebaut. Ist nicht nur wehrhaft, sondern auch fotogen.

Driving in and around Zwolle can be a challange. Many pedestrian areas and one way roads. There is plenty of parking but most of it is payed. I can't remember there being a parking garage. There is not a lot really near the Sassenport itself.
If you are prepared to walk,10 minutes, there is plenty of free parking just outside the center.
