Zwolle station is a large interchange with buses as well as local services for the area. Many of these services are run by different companies than NS so if you are transferring to one of these services you must "tap out" with one railway company and "tap in" with the next company or you may be caught out and have to pay a fine.
The station has a few platforms to different parts of the country including Leeuwarden, Groningen, Amsterdam, Utrecht, Nijmegen and more.
There are places to get snacks for your journey as well.

Pizza ria luca's had lekkere champignons Pizza en vriendelijke bediening. Vriendelijk tewoord gestaan door de reizigers informatie balie. Uitgang en vervolg reis perron gemakkelijk kunnen vinden.

Auf einer geplanten Fahrradtour am Iysselmeer kamen wir von Enschede per Rad im Zug in Zwolle am Bahnhof an und mussten hier umsteigen in den Zug nach Kampen. Ein stinknormaler Bahnhof wie viele andere auch. Es gab hier nichts besonderes anzuschauen

Took an easy train ride from Amsterdam to Zwolle to visit the Ice sculpture exhibit.
This was a great experience put on by some very talented artists. Well worth the trip.
Just bring warm cloths as it is cold in the building. They require pre-purchasing tickets for a time on line to reduce crowding. This I believe is a smart way to gain entrance. When we went there was no line and you could move through the exhibit at your own pace. Very well run event.

Het station is toch wat ruimer opgezet dan vroeger, brede tunnel onder station door. Overal liften wat best wel handig is. Voldoende eet en drinktentjes aan stadszijde. Ligt op loopafstand naar centrum. Moet wel opletten bij in en uitchecken dat je juiste vervoerder gebruikt.

Mooie doorloop van links naar rechts. Precies wat je nodig hebt restaurantjes aan de centrumkant; prima döner aan de andere kant. Zelfs toiletten, boekwinkel en een sushi plek.

Ik kwam vandaag op het ‘vernieuwde’ station en had nog moeite om het juiste perron te vinden vanuit de oude stationshal. Bij het uit en inchecken viel het me op de blauwnet zijn eigen poortjes heeft naast die van de NS. Opletten dus. De trein vertrok voor mijn neus om drie minuten niet voldoende was voor overstappen naar een ander perron.
Waarschijnlijk leer je met de station omgaan als je er vaker komt, maar in combinatie met alle wegwerkzaamheden voor het station ben ik nog geen grote fan.

The main building dates from 1866 (architect Nicolaas Kamperdijk). At the time it was a class I station along with Dordrecht railway station that was built in a similar neoclassical style. Both stations were considered large and well-facilitated by Dutch standards. Zwolle station is a major hub in train trafiic towards the North of the Netherlands..
At the moment the station is being renovated. I hope they will address the confusing numbering of platforms. Ask NS personnel about directions, as to make sense of the map is rather time consuming. The station is 900m South from the central square (Grote Markt) in Zwolle's old town.

Ingrijpende verandering ondergaan de laatste jaren. De frequente bezoeker (en ik als treinforens ben dat) moet daardoor soms wel de nodige ontberingen ondergaan. Zwolle lijkt een steeds drukker knooppunt te worden en zeker in de ochtendspits lijkt de hal daar niet op berekend. Reizigers krioelen door elkaar heen en moeten soms dringen om door poortjes te komen. De centrumkant moet nu de verandering ondergaan en verdient nu nog niet een beoordeling heel goed. Bussen zijn van die kant net naar de andere kant van het spoor verplaatst. Mooie kunstzinnige overkapping geplaatst. Scherm in de tunnel met videobeelden blijft leuk! Voorzieningen (leesvoer, eten, winkels) adequaat. Op naar een beoordeling "heel goed"!

Met plezier kom ik op het station. De piano geeft wat sfeer en ook het scherm in de tunnel is leuk naar te kijken. 1 min puntje en dat is dat rokers overal kunnen roken. Zo maken de rokers gebruik van de afgeschermde plaatsen. Voor mensen met astma is dat wel is vervelend.
