According to the official Markthal website, dogs are allowed, but "they must be kept on a leash, and are the responsibility of the person controlling them". When we were there I didn't see any dogs in the Markthal, and I think that unless the dog is very well-behaved, it might be difficult to control a large dog considering the tempting variety of foods displayed within a short reach!

First of all, Amsterdam is a must see/visit, but it does not represent The Netherlands, The Hague on the other hand has the government buildings but besides that “not much to offer” for sightseeing; whereas other smaller cities like Delft or Leiden in the area still have the “old” feeling of how Holland was hundreds of years ago. Rotterdam is great city, basically totally rebuilt after WO ll. Typical tourist area worth visiting is Voldendam / Marken. But then again, any place visiting depends on the weather! Without rain it all be nice and people will treat you friendly and in English anywhere.
