This is now my favorite museum in Brussels

This is one of the best museum I have seen. The permanent exhibition guides visitors though European history, from Europe's origins and evolution, to the descent into war and search for a better life, how history has shaped Europeans' memories and daily lives from the 19th century to today. The museum is free, has 5 or 6 floors (I don't remember exactly), there is an elevator that any visitor can use, we were given a very helpful audio guide which comes on a tablet (essential, as most exhibits are not labeled) and the friendly staff helped us every step of the way.
The entire museum exposition is presented interestingly, not dryly, and with love. My advice, have more time in reserve, the size of the museum is large, you want to see and take in everything, also, just in case, have an ID with you (we were not checked, but on their website it says), since you and your bags need to go through security (airport-style). Smart to combine the visit to museum with peaceful and beautiful Leopold Park where the House of European History Museum is located.

Tablet based museum

The museum is free but you have to pass through airport style security. The building is impressive but the exhibition is predominantly through a tablet with visual displays seemingly supplementary. We were advised hours but 1 hour was plenty.

Teenage family visit. Top marks.

Has to be the best educational attraction we have ever visited. So well organised - the tablet guide is brilliant, the multi-languages used in all the displays, the layout, the content. Complete surprise. Was expecting a boring two hours at most! Staff were friendly and on hand to help. Highly recommend.

Pleasantly surprised!

I was pleasantly surprised with this museum - lots to see, a really exciting handset that reset itself when you walked to a different part of the museum and a real sense of pride in their overall collection.

Please do visit - it’s great! Really cool shop too.

Free history for everbody

Went with my friends and had a great time. Amazing that it's free and available in so many languages. We especially enjoyed the section on social movements and learned a lot about the different countries and how their histories connect with each other. Very extensive, so either you take a few hours or you decide to only see a bit.

Most awesome history museum I have visited

Really facinating experience, a lot to see and do here. I considered skipping this museum but now I am glad I didn’t! This might be the most facinating museum in Brussels.

Lots of history on here, and it shows history from everywhere in Europe, to America post WW2 and a lot of facinating history on the Soviet Union too.

I loved this place, I definitley reccommend it! You’d be crazy to miss this place.

Could be good - still visit

This museum has the potential to be a really interesting place, in parts it sort of was. That added bonus is its free. On arrival the friendly staff provide you with a mini guide of what to expect. You collect your tablet to explain the displays However the lack of arrows, no numbering (You have to look at a plan of cabinet and work out the shapes) and tablet audio lag makes it a confusing mess. You could be stood in front of one display, but the tablet audio was somewhere else. The lack of directional hours means you are looking at the 2nd World War displays, go along further and you are in the 1st World War or somewhere else, which makes no chronological sense.
This could easily be resolved by directional arrows. Some of the display audios are quite loud, so you also can't here the tablet audio through the headphones (Even when sometimes it was in the correct place). I would still recommend visiting, but perhaps ask for directions at each floor, so you know which direction to go and hopefully your tablet will find the correct place.

revisiter l'histoire de Notre Europe en 6 étages

Une maison ou musée très riche et avec plein de renseignements.
La visite se fait avec une tablette interactive qui vous informe sur chaque œuvre.
Il y a aussi des vidéos d'époque, des jeux inter-actifs.

Un très bon support du personnel en cas de besoin.
Il y a des tabourets portable pour s'assoir, oui la fatigue démarre au bout de 2 heures...

Entramos por casualidad y fue un gran acierto. Un recorrido muy interesante por la historia europea, con bastantes cosas curiosas. Un fastidio que la tablet no me funcionara en un par de juegos interactivos, pero en definitiva muy interesante.
