Just great, rarely seen such a good museum. Getting Europe's history done without a score of what happened is quite an achievement.
To all those involved in this project, I have received my highest recognition.
I'd love to go again.

This museum is one pf the best I‘ve been to and is not included in enough travel guides! Really interactive with a range of exhibits and a clear route round. Plus it’s free!! Highly recommend to anyone and everyone

A really great overview of the history of Europe as a whole, not centred on any one country.
They have a great system with a tablet (free!) and an audio guide that automatically knows where you are in the museum and updates as you move. There is also additional bits of information to click through that you can read about the displays.
Not being from Europe it was a really nice way to see the history of how the countries have come together and what commonalities they share as well as some differences.
There was also another temporary display about the 10 year war and its impact on art that was quite interesting

Don't go to this museum. It presents a really harmful narrative that is uncritical of imperialism, heralds European exceptionalism, is misleading on basic facts about European history, and overshadows eastern European and Irish history completely.
Anyone who doesn't know much about Polish or Irish history might walk out of the museum thinking Warsaw is part of Russia and think Henryk Sienkiewicz was a Russian, which for me, as a Pole, was very insulting. The person would know Daniel O'Connel was Irish, but that would be about it. No more detail is given about the revolutionary, apart from the fact that he wore a funky hat.
There was a whole section dedicated to 'scientific racism,' (as it was named) which is a problematic term in itself because it grants hate the prestige of having a basis in science, and is therefore worth studying. The guide provided no criticism of eugenics in this section...
Anti-Semitism was called an 'attitude' by the guide...
The Bosnian genocide was not called what it was by the guide, but just a 'war.' The Balkans were hardly mentioned apart from that.
The museum was trying to model EU values onto European history, which just felt forced. An idea that came up again and again in the museum, was the unity between European nations across history, which is just untrue. European history is tainted by a lot of bloodshed and the idea of belonging to Europe is new, it came with the advent of the European Union.
It's true that encompassing the whole of European history is a challenge. But the museum could have done anything but what they did. It was colonial, insulting and harmful.
I will tell people to stay away from this museum.
The air conditioning, nevertheless, was set at a perfect temperature.

Visit recommended following our visit to the Parliamentarium, of which, apparently, the House of European History was a must-have to do...
What a disappointment! Certainly, the presentation is factual and without bias but without interest... We learn nothing more than we already know from our previous visit. The first floors are interesting... The last two are not very informative and even seem sloppy.
I was not at all convinced by the Audio Guide which comes in the form of a tablet where you spend the majority of the time handling it only to really enjoy your visit.... In the end, you give up... Too bad not to have kept a few boxes of presentations of the works...
The tour lasted less than 2 hours for us, with a strong feeling of disappointment.

This was one of the best museums I have been to. It is free to get in and gives an excellent history of Europe that is fair and balanced. The part on the holocaust was beautifully put together and made me really emotional. It also had a lot of reflective pieces to make you think about the future issues and possible solutions for the future of Europe. As someone from England, it really helped me to connect to the rich history of Europe that I still feel very much part of. Highly recommended. The bits about National Socialist and the rise of Communism were brilliantly put together and very thought provoking.

Was a bit hard to find as it is located inside a park and there are no signs. Inside you have to go through airport-type security and lock all bags in lockers (free). Entrance is free and the toilets are free too. This museum is absolutely fascinating, we spent 3.5 hours here and we had to rush, we didn't even manage to see a lot of the things. It details the history of European nations from hundreds of years ago up to the modern day with artefacts, photos, pictures and videos. Really interesting sections of the two world wars, but we did not have enough time to look at everything in detail. I think I will need to return in future to spend the entire day here. A must-visit.

I personally loved it! We spend the whole day and I found the presentation of facts accurate and well introduced in the context of EU creation. Great place for all ages.

The tablet provides descriptions in 24 languages. But is it strictly necessary to use it to enjoy the museum or are there signs in english or french that could be read anyway ? Would it be possible to use one's own "standard" earpiece ?

You do really need the tablet as there are no real signs/printed descriptions. As far as I remember, the tablet had a normal headphone socket so yes, you could connect ordinary earphones.
