Gigantic site of an old colliery erected at the beginning of the nineteenth century, much of whose buildings were restored in the second half of the twentieth century! The site is home to a restaurant Gault & Millau that we could not benefit from, it was 1:30pm; full we were told, although only 2 tables were occupied. Apart from 2-3 wagons and some scrap metal at the back of a building as well as some ruined walls, this site is neither a museum nor dedicated to its primary activity COAL, only the global and extravagant architecture is interesting! The site is not suitable for people with reduced mobility (except outside), many stairs leading to temporary exhibition rooms. A walk in the parts surrounding the site shows us the importance of this old colliery.

There is an interest in visiting this industrial site with a history of mimes and also how it became a place of contemporary art and design.
A level of scenography, exhibitions of very professional works. We are close to perfection.
However to visit the temporary exhibitions well looked what is on offer because we are in design and contemporary art.
The visit of the site is to be seen and echoes the Royal Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans .

Very little interest in visiting this poorly maintained site outside; with the immense volumes available we could have dedicated a place with photos and films relating the industrial mining past of this place classified as World Heritage..but there: nothing! It has just become the use of a place once very rich in history for "expos"..I will not recommend to anyone this visit!

Nice setting, nice service, excellent food, reasonable price.
Just a small detail: as an aperitif we were offered a “Mont des Anges” sparkling wine close to the Chant d’Eole which is too acidic, I advise you to choose something else.

For conceptual art exhibitions, take the guided tour at 2 p.m., every day except Saturday, included in the ticket. This allows us to understand the artist's message which is not always obvious.

I found that the presentation of both the artists and the works was understandable. Few convincing or meaningful explanations. I couldn't relate to the numbering of the hours or the explanations.
Fortunately I called on the room guards for clarification.
I would like to thank them especially a certain Alexandre who was particularly interesting and thanks to him I was able to perceive a little of the art of Angel Vergara thank you!

Les bâtiments ont été bien restaurés mais l’ensemble est vraiment triste. Le site est consacré à l’art contemporain et les œuvres exposées sont en petit nombre et sans grand intérêt. Les expositions temporaires sont plus intéressantes. Il est vraiment très regrettable que des informations sur l’histoire du lieu ne soient pas disponibles dans les différents espaces. La cafétéria se limite à des distributeurs de boissons et le restaurant sur place n’est pas très attractif. Le site a vraiment besoin d’être réanimé !

Le site est très beau et agréable. On se sent bien et se met dans la peau d'un travailleur de l'époque en le visitant ou en se baladant à l'extérieur. Le fondateur avait conçu pas mal de choses (maisons, magasins, ....).
Les 2 musées "design" sont très épurés et les oeuvres y sont magnifiques.
Par contre, le MAC est une grosse déception. Très vide et nous nous attendions à autre chose.
Heureusement que nous n'avons ne sommes pas venus expressément pour le MAC.

De site is in zijn geheel is de moeite waard omwille van de inplanting . Het geeft een beeld van hoe het destijds moet geweest zijn inclusief het standenverschil tussen baas en werkmens . Alles - en dat is ook het mooie - van bovenaf georganiseerd maar met respect voor " humane waarden" - de idee van "mijn" werknemers "ook " mijn" kapitaal - zijn in beeld gebracht. Gecultiveerde afhankelijkheid. Het idee van de museums op het terrein is zeker een meerwaarde.

C'est, sans aucun doute, un merveilleux site de notre passé industriel (lié à l'exploitation du charbon depuis le 19e siècle). Ce complexe est un véritable écrin et le MACS peut y déployer toute son originalité. Au delà de la visite, des collections et des expositions, les centres d’intérêt ne manquent pas. Le parc et le site sont, à eux-seuls, des endroits à découvrir.
