Een fantastisch mooi museum, heel uitgebreid. Mooi is dat er een verhaallijn is vanuit het perspectief van 4 personen, die je door de geschiedenis leiden met een audiotour. Prachtig gemaakt, veel te zien. Ook de belevenis kamers zijn magnefiek om te ervaren, alsof je er zelf middenin zit. Eigenlijk moet elke jongere dit museum bezoeken, want het was té erg, die oorlog. Ook fijn dat je met één ticket ook naar de War rooms en het bois de Jacques kunt gaan binnen 7 dagen.

Special and impressive experience this museum. You have to follow the story from beginning to end. It puts your feet on the ground in the luxury life we live in now and where it is never enough. We can do anything, we buy anything, we go on holiday and always complain.

Magnificent museum that is very well organized and contains important historical pieces to fully understand the Second War.
Beyond the objects, films, testimonies about this sad period, messages of hope are distilled here and there.

This is NOT a war museum as a war museum should be. With army vehicles and mannequins depicting something!! This is a museum about the war!! You walk around with your headphones listening to people tell you what the war was like, who, where, why.... Things everyone already knows by now. Just a few vehicles and some display cases with dolls. Otherwise only tattooed!! Had already been there (+30 years ago), and THEN it was a war museum with a large number of vehicles and depicted situations. Whoever got it in his head to get rid of all this and replace it with this, I don't know, but he should have stayed off it, and left everything as it was. So lots of BLABLA and little BOOM. Isn't worth his money!! There are other museums nearby that have much more to offer!!

An enjoyable visit to the 3 museums gave us an insight into this monumental battle. We spent 3 hours one afternoon at the War museum, which was a mix of audio guides, displays and films, and then the next morning at the Barracks museum and the Bois Jacques. You can visit all 3 sites on the same ticket, and it was worth it to piece the whole story together.
Whilst there were frustrations at times, on the whole, the museums were thoughtfully out together using mixed media, interactive elements and above all, personal stories which brought this period of history to life. Worth a visit.

This museum was just great!
Everything from the parking (€5 for the whole day) to automatic audio recordings for the listener walking round was spot on.
Please visit the ‘Bois Jacques’ woods, this topped the visit for me. Although make sure that you respect the area as well!
Can’t recommend this place enough!

Fantastic museum! It is very worth it, for those interested in matters related to the Second World War and, in particular, the Battle of the Ardennes.
Easy access, with parking (paid) on site.

This museum is best skipped! It mainly consists of wall plates with lyrics and 4 films, which are rather chewed out. There are few relics and display cases are poorly lit. For all this, the entrance fee is hefty! Even for reparking must be paid. We walked out feeling barely informed. In my opinion, it is best to visit the 101 Airborn museum in combination with Bastogne Baracks. After this Bastogne War Rooms and Bastogne War museum are unnecessary!

1 - Oui il y a une cafeteria très bien tenue avec différentes sortes de bière et autres boissons classiques.
2- Non ce n'est pas fatiguant le tout est plane et bien aménagé, les seniors peuvent s'y rendre sans problèmes.

What memorial as information about the 17th Airborne Division and specifically the
507th Parachute Infantry Regiment (United States). My Uncle was a Chaplin for
that unit.

If he fought in the battle his unit would be listed on the American memorial in Bastogne. As far as what each individual unit did I would look it up on the Internet. The memorial is at least 5 stories high in the shape of a star. The units are shown on the columns. White marble if I remember right. It was VERY impressive. Hope this helps.

We are planning on driving from Amsterdam to Bastogne, (about 200 miles) Is there a preferred or better route to take? Has anyone made the drive? Route E25 southbound and Route E19 to E411 to E46 northbound.
We are planning on returning to Amsterdam several days later by driving back and stopping in Brussels.
Any suggestions of which roads to take is appreciated.

Hi Keith
I am visiting Bastogne at the end of May as a surprise present for my husbands 40th. Neither of us have been to the area before and I am wondering if you could offer me any information on the area. We will only be there for 3 days so if you could recommend any tours, guides or general places to see I would really appreciate it. Also would I be right in thinking that we would be better off hiring a car? We will be flying into Charleroi airport in Belgium.
Any kind of advise would be very much appreciated.
