Excellent selection of tanks, planes etc etc. Well laid out, helpful staff, cheap prices. restaurant was especially good, well cooked food for little money! well done

Fantastic place to visit. Great displays of military machinery. The history covers Slovenia military including the 2 World Wars and Slovenias Independence in 1991.
Weapons and vehicles left by the Germans, a Police Boat, Submarine to name just a few.
As a foreigner I found the displays on Independence fascinating, especially the lounge room set up as it would have been with the family watching the news in 1991.
So glad we spent time here and would definitely come back if we had more time.
Well done to the people and organisations who put this together.

Last day before returning to Italy. After a walk in Ljubljana I stopped to visit this museum. First part dedicated to the history of the region, especially the First World War and how Slovenia's independence came about. Then the pavilions with planes, tanks and many other weapons. All really well looked after.

Museum of military history consisting of many mostly American and Yugoslavian exhibits. One part is dedicated to collapse of Yugoslavia when several republics were founded.
If you are interested of military history I strongly recommend to visit.

Wat een aanrader is dit. Bijna nergens lees je hierover. Vele boeken over Slovenië gelezen en internet afgezocht naar leuke dingen om te doen. Bij toeval kwamen we hier terecht. Dit museum is ongelooflijk. Aan alles is gedacht. WO1, WO2 en uiteraard de oorlog van Slovenië tegen Joegoslavië om onafhankelijk te worden. Materieel en materiaal in overvloed aanwezig. Parkeerplaatsen voldoende. Entreeprijs voor wat je krijgt is alleszins redelijk. Wil je alles op je gemak zien en beleven, dan ben je zeker twee dagen kwijt. Tijdens je vakantie moet je dus selectief zijn. Veel plezier voor wie hier (terecht) heengaat.

Bellissima visita ad un museo ben organizzato, con annessa prova di volo simulato su uno Spitfire (che il nipote quindicenne ha gradito molto). Spiegata benissimo la storia della secessione della Slovenia dalla ex Jugoslavia. Adatto ad un pubblico interessato alla storia moderna.

My stinky partner and I had two hours to spare while waiting for a connecting train in Pivka so decided to kill some time here.
The staff were friendly and helpful, suggesting how we could best utilise our time. A lot of tanks. Like, a lot. Too many maybe… for military history it’s certainly brilliant but we really wanted to know more about WHERE the tanks were used.
Lots of information on the Yugoslav wars but not so much on the world wars. We didn’t have enough time to properly look at the building on Slovenian Indépendance but our brief run through showed it was amazing. Would have loved to spend a full day here reading everything and exploring.
They had leaflets if you want to sign up for the Slovenian Army!

Museo bellissimo, con tanti pezzi dalla seconda guerra mondiale in avanti, ben organizzato e soprattutto ben curato in ogni dettaglio. Piacevole mezza giornata, da non perdere per chi appassionato e per chi è in zona, ne vale la pena. Consiglio anche la visita al sottomarino! Particolare e molto interessante!!

Ex caserma (composta da tre edifici) riconvertita a museo con l'aggiunta di una nuova struttura espositiva . Collezioni (che riguardano le dotazioni militari, della Jugoslavia prima e della Slovenia poi, molto ricche ed estese e riguardanti armamenti sia di origine o derivazione russa sia di origine angloamericana. Criteri espositivi molto validi e con esurienti notizie e spiegazioni (sia storiche che tecniche) anche in lingua inglese.

Il museo sorge in una vecchia caserma, con la biglietteria e la prima parte dell'esposizione nella ex palazzina di Comando. C'è la possibilità di acquistare, oltre al biglietto per la visita dell'esposizione, anche tre "supplementi": la visita all'interno del minisommergibile di epoca jugoslava, e i due simulatori di volo, uno per il Spitfire e uno per il MiG 21, che consiglio per un'esperienza completa.
La prima parte della visita riguarda periodi più antichi e la guerra d'indipendenza slovena del 1991, mentre nei due edifici sopra vi sono numero carri armati prevalentemente della II GM, e il simulatore di volo dello Spitfire.
L'ultimo edificio ospita mezzi più moderni, alcuni aerei tra cui il MiG 21, il sommergibile e l'ultimo simulatore di volo.
La prima parte della visita riguarda periodi più antichi e la guerra d'indipendenza slovena del 1991, mentre nei due edifici sopra vi sono numero carri armati prevalentemente della II GM, e il simulatore di volo dello Spitfire.
L'ultimo edificio ospita mezzi più moderni, alcuni aerei tra cui il MiG 21, il sommergibile e l'ultimo simulatore di volo.
