Fantastic visit. Staff were so friendly and the cafe is excellent. Great place to visit when it is raining. Children loved the mosaic activities.

What a lovely site. First of all, the archaeology and museum is super interesting! Well laid out and well explained exhibition. Great use of animations and visual interpretations irergrated into the museum as well.
We had the pleasure of meeting Pat, one of the volunteers on a Friday morning , who told us lots of amazing info and answered all our questions.
We also stopped off in the café for a Villa delight flapjack (would recommend BTW) and some drinks. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and great selection of cakes and light meals.
The gardens were also nice to walk around with some fantastic views towards the sea great for a little outdoor picnic.

Walked 1.5 hours from Shanklin along beach to Sandown and to the site of the Brading Roman Villa which is before the village itself. The Roman Villa is a superb attraction; fresh and modern. There is a large car park. I started in the cafe which has a nice range of food of good quality. The guy serving was really considerate and helpful. I had a delicious and filling Stilton & Cauliflower soup. There was a tile making activity to the side of the Reception desk which looked fun though there was a cost to do it and it might have only been there for half term.
The Villa is viewed from a well designed one-way system ramped walkway that overlooks the floors. The interpretation boards are well pitched for all ages and there are activities for children as you go round - some didn't have the materials to do them, so I had to go around to Reception and ask for the paper and crayon to do the rubbing required but I was given paper that was too small and the activity didn't work very well. It's not enough to put them down a grade, but disappointed me, so a child would have been upset. There is a lot of green space outside for picnics or children to let off steam. The gift shop has a good range - except I would have loved a Medusa Tee-shirt which the staff were wearing but they don't have them for sale. I spent a lot longer than I thought I would here because it was so interesting , well thought out and well presented.

A very interesting visit during October half term. The exhibits are well displayed with good explanations. The raised walkways takes you round the covered over part of the villa, with a few more remains to explore outside. Smaller artifacts are also well displayed. We arrived about 3pm to find the cafe was just closing and the site closed at 4pm so spend less time here than we wished, disaappointing as we had made a special effort to find it.

Excellent attraction. Top tip is do the mosaic making FIRST, then visit the villa, then enjoy the great cafe with welcoming staff and fab cakes. So your mosaics are set but the time you leave. Also give the visit more time than you might expect it worth it.

We visited on a wet day and were grateful the museum was protected from the elements. The display is stunning as the visitor walks on walkways above the mosaics. We had an introduction from an excellent volunteer. There were lots of explanatory panels. The mosaics are quite difficult to see as they are faded . Once home I was pleased that I had bought a guidebook which gives clearer images of the mosaics. This guidebook was excellent value at £6. I did find the display quite chilly but I expect this was to protect the mosaics. We warmed up with a cup of tea in the cafe.

The mosaics all looked as if they needed a good wash. There are however some unusual ones. I thought the entry was overpriced for what there is to see. Good access for wheelchairs inside. I was also disappointed that the cafe closes at 3 so couldn't have any refreshments after our visit (museum closes at 4).

This review is for the cafe at Roman villa, very disappointing, sign states and website states closes at 4pm, arrived at 3.30 to be told we are closed, maybe don't have cafe door open, maybe have sign stating cafe doesn't serve after 3.30?, Just 2 members of staff chatting a counter so not busy.

What an awesome place to visit. We had a lovely morning here followed by a coffee and cake in their lovely cafe. All the staff we were so helpful and all the exhibits, artefacts and remains were beautifully presented, with great information boards. A must see place if you are in the area.

We had an excellent visit to this fascinating Roman Villa, accentuated by the Steve, the guide on duty this morning. He really brought the whole experience to life, and gave us so much insight into the Villa and it’s discovery!

We had vouchers from our hotel included in the cost of our holiday.
There are many places giving half price vouchers, also if you go to the tourist information they will also give you vouchers for discounts on many attractions .
