The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand, is a hidden gem that deserves recognition and a visit. Its highland location, captivating scenery, colorful flowers, and commitment to organic farming make it a must-see destination for anyone traveling to the region. Whether you seek relaxation, a connection with nature, or a deeper understanding of sustainable agriculture, Angkhang has something to offer every traveler. I highly recommend adding The Royal Agricultural Station Angkhang to your list of places to visit in Thailand, as it promises an unforgettable experience filled with natural beauty and serenity.

This is a must visit. I think I spent about 2-4 hours here. There is so much to see. I started at the coffee shop and flower boutique. They have beautiful hybrid flowers and an introduction to some tea. Watching the mist evaporate from the poppy field over tea was magical. The nearly grown lettuce fields were also adorable. You can decide how much time you want to spend here. I had some free time, so I decided to hike the mountain at the entrance of the Japanese Garden. Nice views that twist around the mountain where you can see the fields. Next, I had lunch at the restaurant. Tasty Shan food, but you can find Chinese and Thai dishes, too. After the restaurant, I explored the mountain and gardens. There are cabins at the top of the mountain. From there, on your way out, you can stop at the fruit and vegetable gardens. I liked learning about the different types of lettuce. It’s an intricate production. Overall a nice day. I encourage you to stop at the tea stalls outside to support the local vendors.

A huge complex with plant collections and restaurant, scenic vistas, horticultural wonders. Great for a few special birds. Costs extra to take your car in, & a fair walk if you don't.

Hard to believe but these are all arranged gardens... Including very natural looking rocks and foresty gardens to flower conservatory.

The place is a real gem, nestling in the cool green uplands of Doi And Khang. The gardens are immaculately kept, full of colour and interest, and containing incredible diversity and with a surprise around every corner. Could easily fill a day-long visit and do not leave with visiting the restaurant, for some of the finest local cuisine in all of Thailand

We have gone up multiple times when we needed some nature time, trees and fresh air. We have enjoyed walking through the multiple little park areas. I think my favourite is through the bonsai garden and up through the rocks behind it. Also nice is the walk behind the restaurant. The restaurant is quite tasty although has a very limited menu. The coffee at the restaurant and the stop near the gates are both good.
Many nice photo opportunities.

We went there the end of December which was cold (for Thais). Flowers are blooming, especially cherry blossoms. Here, there, everywhere! Also, there are fresh fruits you can buy. There are hill tribes selling fresh strawberries. So fresh, so good, and so cheap! Don't miss them!
Btw, there's entrance fee, 50 baht per person (same for Thai and foreigner). 50 baht for car. Quite cheap!

How is the condition of the road. We will be travelling from Fang tomorrow

Maybe it is late for you already but it may help other travelers. The road is in general in good condition keeping in mind that it is in a remote mountainous area. The road is the typical in the mountains wirh many curves and some parts very steeped but the landscape is amazing!

I want to travel from Chang Mai, next Monday (3/8) to Doi Ang Khang. How can I travel by public transport, I will be travelling by myself, and I don't want to hire a car. Also, I would like to stay at Doi Ang Khang for 3 days, so I can have a really good look. I am from Australia,

A great initiative from the King, It is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon , high in the mountains , clean air, wandering through the secret pathways that weave the way around the gardens. Nothing is marked but it is obvious which way to go , eventually after roaming through a variety of landscapes, past the propagation area , herbs and tea there is a beautiful spot for a good coffee or other refreshments from there it is about 1500 meters easy walk back to the exit and car park. This road take you past the research and development of many fruit trees not typical for Thailand eg peaches. Opposite the car park there is a beautiful flow garden and another refreshment house. The only thing lacking was the lack of English descriptions of the plants , whist some were marked many were not. If you love plant life and want to support this great initiative for the cost of 50B per person and 50 B for the car and the beautiful drive up the mountainous road , then take the time.!
