Who likes it. Just Touri food joints, disgusting. Don't know which city is worse, Faro or Albufeira? Believe Albufeira. Drinking tourism has the upper hand. I don't even want to be buried here. Downstairs shops, from the first floor total ruins, even danger of collapse in several places

We were on holiday in Albufeyra in October 2024. Our apartments were on the upper part of the city. Therefore, every day we went down through the old city on the way to the beaches. The streets of the old snow-white city are endless bars and souvenir shops. It's nice to walk. In the evening, all this turns into a musical and song noise. Everything falls silent at 4 am.

The old town is like a fairground, so you have to love this. It is not like in Greece that everything has been beautifully preserved and honoured. It is mainly old and supplemented or replaced with lots of neon light and large bars. The local activities are very nice

Lovely beach
Sunbed x2 and parasol 21 euros absolutely disgusting price thank the lord there were only 2 of us !!!

Some of the more recent reviews of Centro Historico De Albufeira made me chuckle and actually made me question did these reviewers actually go the Old Town .
I think the word Old Town is an inaccurate description of this area ,the resort isn't that old ,granted parts of what were the fishing village still remain ,ie the beautiful churches and some of the buildings around the churches but most everywhere else is quite modern.
This area has lots of pubs,bars, cafe's and restaurants to attract tourists ,this is why the majority of us normal people go ,a bit of sun on our backs and a swim and then hitting the town with our family and friends, can't vouch about English and Irish fighting each other ,never ever witnessed this and I've been here 10 times to Albufeira ,always in October, drugs being offered ,well that's prevalent on every resort ,ignore ,they go away ,simple ,to me this area is fun it's different from Montechoro Strip the other side of the resort, Montechoro Strip is also fun but in a different way,younger crowd, all in all in my opinion Centro Historico De Albufeira is really good ,love it here ,go with an open mind ,you'll love it.

Admittedly the main streets are shopping , but do not hesitate , to venture into the streets of the old town , you will find beautiful places and typical facades

Disappointment following the visit to the Marina and the "old town" of albufeira. This town has no soul, only low-end commerce. No charm at all. On the other hand the beach is very beautiful. Transport is not easy, and bus stops are difficult to find.

The historic center is beautiful, typical beautiful houses, a lively city center and many shops; there are also excellent restaurants.

We were looking forward to Albufeira.
Just shooting atmosphere and Chinatown.
Totally loud music until 04.00 in the morning.
Not to think of restful night sleep despite Oropax.
The beaches are easily accessible and reasonably clean.
We're not going to come here again.
We stayed at the Hotel California Beach Urban.
Hotel is located in the city and everything in the hotel is worth the 4 stars.
For future travelers, look for a nice hotel far away from the city

Hey wats albuferia like at 21 St dec to 29 dec is there many places open.thinking going all inclusive thinking about staying in murtu de pria hotel

I asked my sister-in-law who has lived there. She says it's not the same in December because lots of places are closed. She advised April - October as the window to visit Albufeira. Good luck!

Hi there I am traveling on a hen party for the weekend in May. We want to see the old town and have a nice meal outside with some live music are most of the restaurants still open on Sundays and offer live music. Any bar/restaurant recommendations aswell as sights to see would be extremely helpful. Many thanks

There are lots of bars and restaurants serving food which are all open in Sunday’s. Not too sure about the live music through the day but definitely at night. Bar street in the old town (just if the corner of the main square has live music outside where you can sit and listen outside at one of the many bars on the pedestrianised crossroad. Enjoy 😉

Hi again! My parents are comming to Portugal in June foot a week, can anyone suggest a hotel/apartment that is on the flat with no hilly inclines that might be centrally located in the Old Town so that they can easily access shops and restaurants? My Dad uses a walking stick. Maybe if Old Town isn't suitable can anyone recommend any other resorts?

Hotel Inatel or Sol e Mar are right on the beach with no hills. These will be close but not noisy as your parents sound quite senior. If they can put up with the noise then the Hotel California has had a renovation this year but is right in party central till midnight as is the Baltum hotel.

We are a family of 5 going to Portugal in June,any recommendations on where to stay ,we want to be able to walk to the old town and beach . I wondered if either Parque Da Corcovado and Solario De Sa Jose are near the Old Town or which is better?

Hi Kathleen I know Albufeira very well but I don't have knowledge of either of those places. I've googled them and no neither are at all within walking distance of beach or old town. I usually stay close to the centre and the best one I can think of for a family is Albufeira Jardim. Hope this is helpful. Please message me again if you need any further help!

Is the old town suitable for a couple 26/27 years old?
We have been twice before but have stayed by the strip both times, we did love the strip and the nightlife but wanted a change for next year, we only went to the old town for dinner and a couple of drinks it’s beautiful and we said if we come again we’ll stay there instead! We will be going end of July start of August.
Do couples our age stay in the old town?
Do bars stay open past 2 am ?
Will there be a good nightlife atmosphere?

Quisiera saber por favor con qué transporte puedo manejarme, y sus costos aproximados, para poder llegar al centro de la ciudad (ya que leí que está aprox. a 6 km, y estaré cargando mi maleta).
