These are the new facilities of the Portimão Municipal Market, opened in December/2007. It is in the center of the city, but a bit away from the rivery.
It has three floors, with the -1 dedicated to car parking and some shops, the 1st for offices, and the most important, the floor 0, with the entire area of the most commercial and attractive part of the building, being the fish in its own space, but away from fruits / vegetables and meats, flowers, bread, etc.
Inside there is a bookbank, a kind of library available for free to all customers.
Good access, even for people in wheelchairs or with difficulty climbing stairs, there are ramps and elevators.

Various companies present, such as butchers, bakers, greengrocers, florist. Furthermore, a kind of grocery and wine shop. Also a bar to take a break. Separate fishing hall; However, there are currently few traders due to apparently low supply.

Great atmosphere especially on Saturdays when farmers come to sell their produce. Produce is fresh and prices more reasonable. Great to meet the farmers. Fish section is fantastic with excellent fish freshly caught. Busy and lively with locals. Cake/ bread section sells fresh bread and good cakes/ pastry.

Visit the market on Saturday. Great atmosphere. Both locals and tourists. Fish section brilliant with the freshest of fish and a wide selection. Very friendly stall holders. Farmers market section with own produce. Fresh and reasonable prices. Not to be missed.

Très joli marché bien achalandé (surtout le samedi).
La halle est très propre.
Les commerçants accueillants et sympathiques. Les produits, des légumes et fruits, des poissons frais, aux viandes à l'épicerie fine, sont savoureux et abordables.
Ça vaut le détour si vous cuisinez et appréciez le bons produits. Personnellement, nous avons été ravis.

We got the same info. Opens daily except Sundays. 7.00 - 14.00 and opens again in the afternoon.
