O Monte Brasil é uma alegria e uma dádiva da natureza. Sou residente na ilha e é um espaço super agradável para ver veados, estar com crianças nos escorregas e fazer um ótimo piquenique.
Recomendo a não perder... Há um trilho muito lindo, alguns monumentos pelo trilho e uma vista de tirar o fôlego.

The Monte Brasil is an imposing presence in the landscape of Terceira Island, in the Azores.
Monte Brasil is a peninsula that extends through the parish of Sé, in the city and municipality of Angra do Heroísmo.
It is a volcanic cone, formed by an underwater eruption of a basaltic nature, with a maximum height of 205 m.
Its volcanic origin and rich biodiversity make it a must-see place for those who travel to this island of the Azores.
It is part of a Natural Reserve and all its fauna, flora and marine area belong to the Terceira Island Natural Park.

When visiting Angra do Heroismo you should visit this prominent feature of the waterfront. You can walk/hike up Monte Brasil, but driving is easier with parking at the top and at the caldeira viewpoint. Fabulous views of the city, military ruins, a cat colony, and tropical bird haven. ( I didn't notice any cats and the birds were free to roam.)

Wonderful, breathtaking landscapes, good accessibility by car but for those who like there are immense trails. I loved seeing the chickens with the little pets loose, the ducks, pavons. The part of the parrot was in maintenance.
There is a children's park and various places to rest.

Magnificent views along the way, small friendly zoo, several possible routes, superb hiking. 2h45 walk for the route we chose. Little anecdote: you will discover the hill of cats!

Mandatory place to visit on the island. The view over the city and the engagement with nature convey a peace that is difficult to match. If we add to this the well-traced trails, the places to eat with family and friends, and the rush of the whole area make this Monte Brasil one of the visitor cards of Terceira.

One of the most typical places to visit on the island. The hiking route is relatively easy and there are beautiful views of the island.
The bad thing is that there is a kind of zoo where the animals are in terrible condition. How sad to even see this in Europe.

On the top of monte brasil, we saw birds included one parrot who were alone in cages or who seemed in bad conditions… no herbs, no vegetation around the parrot… That’s sad to see that in Europe!
