This museum is definitely a must when staying in Figueira da Foz. Beautiful displays, please take the paper information brochures as you tour this museum. You can return them on completion. The staff are very welcoming and brochures are available in English.
We enjoyed all the exhibits, especially the paintings. The furniture - Indo - Portuguese was exquisite. SO pleased we toured this museum.

For a city like Figueira da Foz, this is definitely a small gem. The collection of religious Art has a number of outstanding artefacts; the exhibit gallery dedicated to Indo-Portuguese furniture should not be missed, once it displays several breath-taking pieces; the Ethnography, as well as the Armoury gallery are well worth being visited and depending on the visitors' interest there are still Arqueology and Numismatics galleries. I was lucky enough to have been able to access to two very interesting temporary exhibitions - one connected to old Figueira archives and photos and the other one with a number of sea related paintings by the Portuguese painter João Reis. The Museum entrance fee is among the lowest I have ever seen and whether you visit it once or several times, partly or as a whole I am sure that as a visitor you'll never be disapointed. To add to all that has been said, I must refer that the group of Museum employees are extremely kindly.

Acervo excelente e polivalente,contemplando a exposição de uma colecção de máscaras (cedidas temporariamente pela Fundação Oriente), mobiliário indo-português,numismática e a parte mais importante dedicada à arqueologia da zona e de outras zonas do país, nomeadamente do Algarve.
Instalações adequadas ,com todo o acervo muito bem exposto.
Imprescindível visitar.

I found this museum to be very interesting. They have many beautiful things. What I liked the most was the old furniture, the carriage, and jewelry. We took our 3 y/o and 5 y/o with us, which was not a good idea - but we didn’t have another option. I am sure that if I would had time to check this museum more peacefully, I would have loved many more things about it.
There is a lower level that was close to the public. This was unfortunate because I was able to sneak a little and they had very old bicycles and motorcycles! I would have loved to see them calmly.

Oportunidade de desfrutarmos de valiosa e generosa colecção de vários artefactos fenícios, 700 a. c., recolhidos num Castro da margem esquerda do Mondego pelo arqueólogo Santos Rocha.
Exemplo de trabalho cientificamente apurado e paciente.
O museu acrescenta acervo valioso e historicamente muito interessante.
Demonstração de cidadania e dedicação ao concidadão.
A não perder, após visita ao Castro da margem esquerda do Mondego

The place has a great collection to see. Visiting it could be a great history lesson. Personally, I really enjoyed military collection.

O Museu abriga uma coleção de arte sagra, mobiliário indo-português, moedas e algumas peças/utensílios arqueológicos. Fica ao lado do Parque das Abadias. No dia em que visitamos estava bem tranquilo, sem muitos visitantes.

No es necesario realzar la consideración que tiene el pueblo portugués con su patrimonio etnográfico, una mas de sus excelentes cualidades son las que encontrareis en este museo. Si vais a la Oficina de turismo, tienen el detalle de regalarte un pase de visita gratuitamente....
