Δεν μου έκανε κάποια ιδιαίτερη εντύπωση. Δεν είναι κακό απλά δεν είναι και κάτι ιδιαίτερο. Ο κήπος θα μπορούσε να είναι πιο περιποιημένος. Οι τιμές στο αναψυκτήριο τσιμπημένες.

In the home of King Otto, installed in 1832 at 17 years old by the Western powers, from Bavarian royalty. He had no offspring, married another non Greek, was Catholic, so was deposed and left in 1862. He did his best though, to embrace Greece, but the poverty was grinding and he wasn’t even Greek!
Poorly illuminated, unfriendly front office staff, curating is minimal, even in Greek, no pamphlets in any language, and just a mediocre place. Mostly Japanese paintings (??) and 19th century period furniture

Othon's first residence in Athens has a flavor of Bavaria and Greece of the 19th century, in the furniture, in the paintings that depict the city at that time, or prominent Greek or Bavarian personalities of the time. The building consists of a ground floor and 2 floors. On the 2nd floor, an art exhibition is hosted and on the ground floor, models and simulations of the streets of Athens almost 200 years ago and a library of the time with German maps and books. On the first floor is also the bust of King Paul that once adorned the school of Anavrita, but due to anecdotal petty political interventions, it was defaced. The museum is located right next to the parking lot of Klathmonos Square and is easily accessible by metro or car.

It was the house once lived in by the first King of Greece, King Otto in the 1830s. It is mainly an old house full of old period furniture and things. Not much to see, but OK.

We paid a short visit on 23/9/22 at 9.30am. Hard to find the exact entrance! When we found it, a senior gentlemen told us there were two buildings to visit. Exhibits were fine and it took us about 30 mins to view everything.
However, the same gentleman at the tickets office had refused to give us two tickets nor a credit card slip/receipt for 10 euros after we had paid via card. He gave all sorts of lame excuses and we can only suspect he pockets the 10 euros?! This is really sad if our suspicion is correct …?

As others have said this barely falls into the category of a museum. All I can say is don't bother visiting and if you do, have a back up plan on hand.

This is not a city museum, just the house of a King and the house of his next door neighbor. No information on the history of the city. There is a poor slide show of some painting of the old town but no labeling of what you are looking at. The interior and furniture of the houses are not memorable. Cannot recommend it.

It’s well worth the time spent here, not only for the numerous displayed artefacts but also for the former Royal Palace itself that hosts the Museum.
Some of our favourite exhibits belonged to the first residents of the building, namely King Otto and Queen Amalia who were here for some years before their move to the Royal Palace that is now the Parliament Building.
Rooms with preserved ornamentation and furnishings including a fully set banquet table reflect the splendour in which the wealthy lived during the 19th century.
Art pieces are numerous throughout and we very much enjoyed those.

מוזיאון קטן מאוד, מציג בית ממוצע+ של המלוכה ששלטה בעיר בעבר. לא משתווה לארמונות של אירופה, תלכו רק אם סיימתם עם שאר האטרקציות בעיר, אל תצפו להרבה.
