First, it is very difficult to write a review of this tour without being influenced by the very poor description and title of this tour. My wife and I had taken another tour on our trip titled: Peza Wine Roads Small Group Tour. We booked the subject tour because it sounded like we would be receiving a tour of Heraklion. Also the description said: "After lunch, take a short walk to explore the picturesque village of Archanes which has a rich history in wine culture. End the day with a visit to a second winery with a selection of another five to six different wines for you to try. As a parting gift, every couple or guest will receive a bottle of wine." None of that actually happened. It turned out that the subject tour was almost an exact replica of the Peza Wine Roads Small Group Tour. We visited the same winery and the same mezze bar. And, to make it even worse, we received the same lunch plates. The bar owner was surprised to see us again. After we explained what happened, he and the tour guide were kind enough to serve us different wines than the rest of our party, so at least we had some difference to our day.
There were 8 people in our party and the driver. The minivan air conditioning did not work, so we drove around with windows down. It was extremely difficult, and frustrating, for anyone who sat in the back row to hear any of the conversation during the ride. We rotated seats so everyone had an opportunity to sit upfront and hear the guide's dialogue. The guide was very nice and very knowledgeable. However, it wasn't fun when it's an exact repeat during the same trip.
The Peza Wine Roads Small Group Tour was lower price, there were only 4 in our party, and the air conditioner actually worked. We did get to tour through the town as well.
When we showed our guide the description of the tour we booked as well as our confirmation, he apologized to us. He said he could understand why we thought the tours would be different. There was no tour of Heraklion and the second winery visit after lunch as well as the "gift" of a bottle of wine was an old description of the tour and it had been changed. He said he didn't know why the incorrect description was still being included.
