Incredible, memorable experience! My wife and I did the 2 hour ride to Fokos Beach and had the most amazing time. Our horses were sweet and well cared for, our guide Laura, was friendly and informative, and we felt welcomed. We absolutely loved swimming at the beach and having a quick, delicious lunch at the tavern. The scenery on the ride to and from the beach was very beautiful and unique. Would do this again in a heartbeat. Highly recommend!

My husband and I visited Horseland today for a 2 hour ride with Laura our instructor. Laura was incredibly informative and very patient.
All the horses have such a beautiful nature, they were all so sweet. Our favorite part was swimming with the horses. It was so adorable to see
The horses playing in the waves and cooling down, they really love the water it’s so cute to watch! Couldn’t recommend more! Thanks again Laura!

It was a great experience. My daughter has had experience riding for several years. I have 0 experience. Laura gave great tips at the beginning. And the horses had been chosen perfectly for the respective experience. We felt safe and very well looked after. Anytime again. Thank you for the great experience.

Visited Mykonos by cruise boat and wanted a different experience. My daughters are 15 and 17-yo and experienced riders. I am a complete beginner.
Pickup from the tender port required a few back and forth messages via WhatsApp (download this and use it! Lots of European companies communicate via this app). After a 10 minute walk from the port, we were picked up just outside Little Venice.
20 min drive to Horseland which is a family run operation. Seems like there are about 8 horses that look well cared for. The couple definitely love the horses given the care and attention they gave them. Letting them run freely during the day and grooming them.
We were given horses matching our abilities. Helmets were provided and spray sanitized. If you’re wearing shorts, they ask you bring a large beach towel. I’m not sure if they have any on site as we brought ours from the boat.
A 10 minute intro to riding and away we went. 30 min to this beautiful secluded beach through the neighborhood and desolate road. Beach pics were taken and then my girls got to gallop along the beach a couple of times which was a highlight. I am a complete beginner and my horse simply followed the lead horse. Simple.
Overall, a unique experience for the family and a welcome change up to temple tours. If your into equestrian, galloping along the beach is a special treat!

Amazing adventure to ride the white horse on the beach! It’s safe for beginners but can be also exciting for experienced riders. Guide respects your horse riding skills

This was truly an amazing experience with our guide Laura and our sweet horses Hermes and Nefeli. Mykonos Horseland is a gem as they rescue and care for these horses beautifully. Our trip took us along the rocky isle paths and to Fokos Beach where we relaxed for an hour and a half. We learned so much about Mykonos. We highly recommend this experience.

It was a wonderful time, the gentleman who guided us was very good, he showed us some basics then we took a 2 hour walk through beautiful landscapes! I recommend !

My wife and I, with our 18 year old grandaughter, went on a sunset ride. While we have some horse riding experience, this was a first for our granddaughter. Prior to leaving, the owner gave her a beginning rider lesson that was the best I've ever seen. When we praised his teaching skills he said, "I want everyone to be safe and to have fun!" He achieved that goal as he guided us from the Horseland facility to the beach and back. I highly recommend Mykonos Horseland!

First of all, I am a big animal rights person and would not have participated in this activity if I did not think the animals were well taken care of. From the moment I entered the ranch to the moment I left, the 2 owners were brushing, washing and feeding the horses. You can tell they have a really strong bond with them. They also have 12 horses and a donkey, all in perfect shape and with really beautiful coats. As for the experience, I honestly felt like I was in a movie. The views were magnificent, with the natural rainwater stream and the wild goats and last but not least the beach... We were a group experience with horse and he allowed us to run with them on the beach. Words cannot describe the feeling of running with a horse ON THE BEACH. The length of the ride was 2 hours so every penny was worth it and by far. For beginners, the horses were so well trained that they drove themselves. Finally, I highly recommend this experience in Mykonos, everything was just perfect.

I made it very clear that I had ridden a long time ago, so, they were to consider me a beginner. Of course, we all had to sign a liabilty waiver before we could even get on the horses. There were 7 other people on the tour and they had all ridden before.
We went at 0930 ,so the horses were full of energy. These were not docile horses who just plodded along and followed eachother mindlessly. Many of them did not like each other and we were told to keep our distance from the others. This was difficult to do as we were all in a line following each other. Everyone had difficulty controlling their horse at one time or another.
There was one guide ( the owner) leading the way on foot. How was he going to help if someone needed it ? For 8 people , one would think at least 2 guides- one in the front and one in the back....
We were an hour going down the mountain ( into a rocky quarry ) and then on to a small beach. No opportunity to joyfully canter on the beach as the pictures on the website would leave you to believe. It was strictly a quick photo opp. This is when things started to really fall apart. One girl's horse was the worst actor. Although she was experienced, the horse decided to roll in the sand while she was still in the saddle. She had the skill to jump off and she was fortunately, unhurt. However, her horse was getting increasingly agitated and was disturbing the other horses.
Especially mine.
Before I knew it , my horse reared and bucked me off into the rocky quarry. I laid there for an hour, unable to move and breathing was very difficult. I thought I was paralyzed.
The guide did call an ambulance and it arrived after what seemed like forever.
Following an excruciating ambulance ride up the mountain with rough, curvy roads to the island's ER., I was then airlifted on a private jet to an Athens hospital. I was there 2 weeks and finally had to fly home with a nurse. I had a chest tube draining blood and fluid from my lungs. I broke 11 ribsin multiple spots. I will be recovering for a very long time.
I am not sure what the other people ended up doing ,as they still had to ascend the mountain. I vaguely recall a few of them saying that they wanted to walk back to the stable.
Again, these horses were badly behaved. Perhaps they should have had a good run in the morning ( before we got on them).
Needless to say it cut my vacation short. And, its no fun to be alone in a hospital in a foreign country.
I felt that other people should know what happened to me and I will leave it to you to decide if you want to take the risk.

Additionally, we trust that the six hours of compassionate care from our team member offered you some comfort during this time with the medical team.
Having learned that you previously enjoyed horse riding but took a lengthy break, we accordingly matched you with a gentle, older horse that is well-suited for beginners. This decision was also why we did not permit you to gallop on the beach—a practice reserved for highly skilled riders with suitable horses.
We appreciate your openness in sharing with our staff your medical condition, specifically the lung issues for which you are undergoing treatment. Unfortunately this information was shared after your fall, within the medical centre.
We hope for your swift improvement in this regard. However, it remains the responsibility of each rider to fully disclose any health limitations that will interfere with their ability to ride.
As you are well aware from your prior equestrian experiences, horse riding is an adventure sport that requires physical fitness, and inherently carries risk, much like other adventure sports.
At Horseland, we maintain a strict routine of a 15-minute 'practice' ride before progressing to the beach, which includes comprehensive safety instructions. As a rider, adherence to our guide's directions is crucial to minimize any potential risk.
Regarding the horse assigned to you, now in its 12th season leading trips to Fokos Beach, this horse has a proven track record of providing reliable and enjoyable experiences to beginner to novice riders. The behaviour you described as 'rear and bucked' does not align with the horse's known temperament, which has been consistently reaffirmed by professional instructors and trainers.
While our guide did not witness the precise cause of your fall, it is likely to have involved your horse being too close to another, contradicting the advised riding formation. Horses are sensitive creatures, and respecting their space is paramount for a safe riding experience.
The trail you traversed, along with the entire riding path, undergoes daily inspections and upkeep so that it remains clear of any obstructions such as debris, rocks, or holes that could potentially become a hazard.
In your review, you mentioned suffering from 11 fractured ribs; however, according to the information provided to our staff by the medical professional, the number was actually six. We regret to see that you may have intentionally embellished the facts, casting a shadow of inaccuracy over your review.
