We both agreed this was our favorite day of our trip to Greece! We started the hike in Fira around 10 am. Before starting out, I found a WC in Fira and paid a woman 1 euro to use the bathroom. It took us a couple of quick wrong turns until we were situated on the correct path. From that point on we had no issues. The views from everywhere were simply spectacular. Early on in the hike there are many places to stop for snacks or drinks. At the Blue Note restaurant - which you can't miss, it's directly in front of you - we took the left fork for the better views. Taking many, many stops for photos and two stops for drinks we did the hike in exactly 4 hours. It was not physically challenging (we are in our 60s) but it was mentally challenging in that I had to watch where I was putting my feet at all times. Loved every minute of it!

A lovely hike, only a couple of places you can take a wrong turn. Bring enough fluid/ snacks as there's little places to stop once you leave fila. Avoid hottest part of day, I started at dawn and it was hot by time I got to ola.

Great hike with amazing views! I went there with my dog for exercise and we really enjoyed tranquility.. in the middle you will find the best orange juice and a nice stop at the canteen.

Amazing walk - great views all around, not too hard, enough places to rest in the middle if needed, and the wind in your face keeps you fresh. We only did half way owing to a paucity of time, but was an absolute highlight of our Greece trip.

Amazing views and not too difficult as I am getting over a knee injury. Thanks to P3 Cream for the bad knee I did the 10 km in about 2:45 mins and was still able to take lots of pictures!

The hike between Fira and Oia is a must do if you like a good hike with amazing views. We did the hike on our own in September and it was no problem following the trail. The day we hiked there were several places along the route you could've bought water, or a piece of fruit or snack, but we were told they are not always open. Be prepared with plenty of water! You need good shoes, that you can walk on rough terrain (gravel or uneven cobblestone) and a distance - we saw some miserable hikers in cute shoes. We had a lovely lunch when we arrived in Oia, we were a bit sweaty but the restaurant welcomed us and served us plenty of water - they are used to hikers. So my pro tip, I had read somewhere about a Lioyerma Pool bar in Oia and that you could rent a lounger for the afternoon and have access to changing rooms, bathrooms, and and outside shower. We did rent loungers and then as time for sunset arrived we changed clothes and moved to the Lioyerma restaurant for sunset. We had wonderful drinks and watched the most beautiful sunset in the world from the deck of Lioyerma.

A must do!
We heard out from our accomodation early (once the fox had lifted) at 9.30am.
We had done some research and had familiarised ourselves a bit with the route to help prepare.
Definitely wear good shoes (runners are fine) - note they will get dusty!
Take plenty of water as the rest stops along the way may be closed.
Load up with sunscreen too and take extra as it sweats off.
Our journey started are firastefani as this was where our accomodation was.
It took us 2hrs 30mins on the dot. We took it at our own pace just cruising along and we didn’t have too many rests.
It was one of the best things I have done on my Greece trip and my best ever hike!
Once you are done head to Lioyerma Cafe Pool (it is around 20mins extra walk through Oia). There you can change into your bathers and enjoy a nice dip in the pool. Lounges cost 10e per person, deck chairs 5e and chairs 2e. Min spend is 10e to be able to use the pool which is fair and reasonable.
For us this was one of the best tips!!

We tried walking thetrail from Fira to Oia - but we started in the afternoon thinking 3 hours would be enough to reach Oia.
It took us 1.5 hours to reach Imerovigli and another 30mins to get to a church on the outskirt of Imerovigli.
Its a great walk and has many viewpoints and stop points in between.
If you want to hike - leave very early in the morning, so you can get to Oia with time to spare and before it gets very hot.
Keep lots of water and lighter clothes but a wind jacket.
Great views on the walk of the Aegean sea and its the side which provides the best sunsets.

The experience is one of the most valuable i had in Santorini.
From Fira to Oia we had a blast taking photos and enjoying the fresh breeze.
We started at 8.15 and made it to oia downtown at 13.00 with brakes and photos taken in the way.
One would need at least 1l of water and also good shoes since there is a lot of climbing to do.
If i were to do it again I would start earlier and finish by 10.

After reading about this walk on tripadvisor we decided it was a must do and we weren't wrong! The sights were absolutely beautiful. We are a reasonably fit mother (52) and daughter (28) and we managed the walk fine but there were some difficult inclines - we were glad for a misty morning protecting us from the sun at the start so sun cream and plenty of water is a must. I'd really recommend good shoes/trainers as parts of the route were rocky and uneven. The route was clear overall but there were a few places you could go wrong so we really recommend using the AllTrails app for navigation.

Hi! I'm trying to plan a hike from where we are staying in imerovigli to Oia and then on to Amoudi Bay for lunch along the water.
Is the trail easy to follow without a guide? Is it marked or is the path simply clear to the naked eye?

You don't Book this hike. It's free! You just turn up and walk the trail whenever you like! Hope you enjoy it! Most hotels will give you info on where to start the trail. Enjoy
