Trip Advisor listing showed this as being temporarily closed. That is not true! We spent a few hours wandering this well designed and curated museum. So glad we took the time to visit. Note that the attached cafe has good, but expensive food. If you are looking for a quick bite, go elsewhere.

Το Βυζαντινό Μουσείο της Θεσσαλονίκης έχει μια από τις πιο ενδιαφέρουσες διαρρυθμίσεις μουσείων. Υπάρχει μία ανωφερής ράμπα που σε οδηγεί από αίθουσα σε αίθουσα και από επίπεδο σε επίπεδο. Στο τέλος μία σκάλα σε οδηγεί στην έξοδο. Ενδιάμεσα, έχει εκθέματα από την πρώιμη ρωμαϊκή περίοδο του Βυζαντίου, μέχρι την κατάλυση. Ενδιαφέρουσα αίθουσα είναι αυτή με τα ταφικά μνημεία, τα οικιακά σκεύη, καθώς και τα μωσαϊκά. Ο φωτισμός είναι χαμηλός και κατάλληλος ώστε να επικεντρωθεί κανείς στο έκθεμα. Προτεινόμενος χρόνος 1 ώρα. Από τα πιο ωραία μουσεία της πόλης.

Contrairement à ce qui écrit ici le musée est ouvert (février 2023). C'est très beau et très différent du musée archéologique. Il n'est pas très loin de celui-ci. Toute l'histoire byzantine raconté ici à travers des objets des sculptures des tableaux. Très intéressant et pas beaucoup de touristes

Όμορφο μουσείο με μοναδικές συλλογές αρχαίων αντικειμένων και με περιεκτικές επεξηγήσεις στα εκθέματα! Έχει ιδιαίτερη αρχιτεκτονική εξωτερικά και εσωτερικά και πραγματικά αξίζει να το επισκεφτεί κανείς.
Έχει περιοδικές εκθέσεις που αλλάζουν ανάλογα με την χρονική περίοδο οπότε δείτε στο site τι έχει κάθε φορά! Προσεγμένος χώρος με σεβασμό στα εκθέματα! Αξίζει οπωσδήποτε να το επισκεφτεί κάποιος!
Μετά την επίσκεψη του μουσείο μπορείς να χαλαρώσεις στο κυλικείο του απολαμβάνοντας ένα ρόφημα καθώς και απολαυστικές γλυκιές και αλμυρές δημιουργίες στον υπέροχο αυλικό χώρο.
Έχει περιοδικές εκθέσεις που αλλάζουν ανάλογα με την χρονική περίοδο οπότε δείτε στο site τι έχει κάθε φορά! Προσεγμένος χώρος με σεβασμό στα εκθέματα! Αξίζει οπωσδήποτε να το επισκεφτεί κάποιος!

That is also the Museum which I never miss. Exclellent, impressive, important, highly professional exhibition. I do recommand to all visitors.

Çok güzel ve ilgi çekici bir müze idi. 1-2 saat vakit ayırmaniz yeterli . Müzenin içinde yer alan restaurantta bir kahve içmenizi öneririm.

Extremely detailed, however, it is well worth it to do the Archeology first. This helps to be informed enough to decipher out within the 15 rooms, among the huge vastness of exhibits and items, what is what or correlates which with when in the time line.

The Museum of Byzantine Culture was an okay place overall.
In general, the museum (exhibits) were pretty good, although the displays were quite dry.
The staff and exhibit-advisors were not very engaged or nice, they (the exhibitors and guide-persons) remained seated during all of our excursion, did not speak to us once about the exhibits, but rather to make our family feel very uncomfortable and watching us extremely closely. It felt very cold.
The gift store was nice if you're looking for either notebooks, diaries, or very expensive statues.

The museum is located across the street from the archaeological museum and is the 11 rooms are built on an incline ramp, so no issues for people with mobility iossues.
The museums rooms travel through the history of Byzantine History, not only in the city but also covering the wider area from the 5th century AD to the fall of the city in 15th century to how byzantine art and culture has been sustained in the Greek Orthodox Church
