I believe this museum is run by country's military department, since the staff are all in uniform. ticket price is very reasonable, for only four euros, you got a lot to see and learn about Greece's history. recommend it!

Visited in mid August and I had no idea what I would find, as I had read or heard nothing for it. But it was a most memorable experience, and not for the reasons one might expect. The bulk of the exhibitions were not impressive, but the thematic exhibitions were awesome: the 2 exhibitions in the basement (Sophia Vempo; anti-dictatorship resistance in Thessaloniki); how the lives of one family crossed with most of the wars in 19th & 20th century; the Greek participation in the Korean war. Also the exhibits in the front yard (canons, F-5, naval mine, torpedo) were OK, but given the available space and the abundance of old military equipment, I would have expected many more exhibits to be hosted in this section. I did not like the emphasis put on the swords and the medals of honour - much less space should have been put on them.

It has many relics from old years as it would fit in such a museum worth visiting if you are interested in such kind. Very close to the center of Thessaloniki easy access.

Extraordinary museum. Very well structured. Interesting work and useful for students. There was a good experience. We learned about greek culture and history.

The staff (service men and women) were very helpful. It is a lovely way to spend a couple learning about Greek war history for the last few centuries. It's nicely layed out.

We learned a great deal about Greece's struggle for independence, the bloody wars that were fought between Greece and the Ottoman Empire, as well as later wars.

I didn't like it much. Many rooms were more a collection of things, uniforms, weapons and such, that probably are of interest for people who know most of them already. We don't. War history can be very interesting, when explaining options and strategy and failures, e.g. with timelines and statistics and maps. But we found little information of this kind. The information we did find is heavily biased, as is to be expected from an army museum. Still, i think they mixed things up with Korea, and the hero glorification is not what i was looking for. One of the upper rooms was better, so I rate it as two out of five. (Oh, and they point guns at you at the entrance, not what i would call welcoming.)

This explains the struggle for autonomy of the Greek people and the wars they had to fight. Usually outnumbered and with older equipment, they fought tenaciously and now honor those who served and fought for them. A HUGE collection of pistols, rifles, swords, and machine guns as well as uniforms.

This was an interesting museum with lots of detail about the various wars Greece was in. It goes back to the independence war in the 1800's though WWII and the Cyprus war. There is alot to see including personal items, guns, ammunition and other war items. There are some explanations in English but no audio guide. The Museum is somewhat hard to find and is sort of behind the exposition building. It is worth a visit but is probably not appropriate for children. It is handicapped accessible.

Superb museum. Set over two floors and a basement. We did the ground floor and first, but gave the basement a miss. It was about a wartime singer of which we didn’t know.
The first floor has heaps of medals, guns, and clothing from the 1st and 2nd world war.
Some really nice bits of history dotted around the two floors. We found it all incredibly interesting and well put together.
Most of the signs were translated into English and lots of helpful people around to bring the place to life.
The outside is littered with planes, tanks, armaments, and bombs. I thoroughly enjoyed our two hours wandering around exploring the floors.
Lots of on street easy parking around. Ideally go early in the morning when it’s empty and the sun hasn’t heated the building up as it has very little aircon.
We went as soon as it opened and it was comfortable.
I highly recommend a visit it you have two hours to kill in the morning.
