Πανέμορφο ενετικό πυργόσπιτο.

Ενα πανέμορφο δείγμα βενετσιάνικης αρχιτεκτονικής. Δυστυχώς ήταν κλειστό όταν το επισκεφθήκαμε και δεν μπορέσαμε να δούμε το εσωτερικό του. Θα ήταν καλό να προβλέψει ο δήμος ώστε να είναι επισκέψιμο σε ένα λογικό εύρος ωρών.

Όμορφο αξιοθέατο

Περπατώντας στα σοκάκια της Αίγινας, πέσαμε πάνω στον Πύργο του Μάρκελλου,ενετικός πύργος της εποχής του μεσαίωνα, με μεγάλη ιστορική σημασία. Όμορφη αρχιτεκτονική,αν κ χρειάζεται συντήρηση εξωτερικά. Εσωτερικά είναι καλοδιατηρημένος και φιλοξενεί εικαστικές εκδηλώσεις.

Πολύ όμορφος πύργος !!! Νοιωθεις ότι εισαι σε αλλη εποχή!!! Έχει και ένα μικρό χώρο μπροστά που μπορείς να κάψεις και να απολαύσεις τον καφέ σου !! Εχει ακριβώς στο απο κάτω στενό μαγαζί με φαγητό και καφέ !!!

Muy bonita

2022年4月

Bonita torre en el mismo casco histórico de Aegina. Está a 5 minutos andando desde el puerto, así que merece la pena aunque sea para hacer la foto (cuando yo fui no se podía visitar). Además, justo enfrente hay una iglesia preciosa (Agios Nikolaos) que es imprescindible visitar.

Beautiful and Unique Piece of Modern Greek History

The Tower of Markellos is a short walk form the port, I would say it is no longer than 10 minutes. As you walk to the Tower you will pass many restaurants and souvenir shops. The Tower is not regularly open to the public so I would recommend doing some research prior to visiting so you can have time to appreciate the building and take in the history it has been apart of.

a strange tower

In the middle of Aegina town one will be surprised to see a tower, which somewhat doesn't make sense. It it said that its origins go back to the second Venetian occupation of the island, for a few years around 1700, but location and architecture don't make sense as a defensive building. One or two shots by a cannon and the whole construction would have been made useless. We must not forget that it was then, when the Parthenon in Athens was badly damaged by a cannonball.

Also the tower of Aegina lacks loopholes and as a warning from pirates, as has been suggested, it is too removed from the coast. Most probably the whole building had been a fancy by a local politician during the years of independence and after, by a certain Spyridon Markellos. After all Aegina had been for a short moment in 1826-27 the temporary capital of newly founded Greece and then this tower also had several administrative functions.

Historic building

This building may not be the biggest, may not be the most beautiful but it has an important history which makes it very sad to see that it is not being restored or looked after in anyway. This could be a great attraction if someone cared for it. Certainly worth seeing... learn about its history to fully appreciate it.
