Dear Mary, If you visit our museum in july or august there will be 3 restaurants open. If you visit us in june or september there will be one restaurant open. You can get different kinds of traditional danish food. Here at Den Gamle By we have more than 80 historical houses, and the whole town is divided into 3 eras 1864, 1927 and the 1970ties. The 1970ties is very popular. We also have large collections of danish silver jewelry, posters, delfware and clocks. From the port to Den Gamle By you can easily use a wheelchair. In Den Gamle By, there are cobblestone and some of the houses have serveral storeys or steps up to the front door. We walked from the port and it was an easy walk along the canal where lots of cafes and restaurants are located. The previous respondent wrote it is about 30 mins which sounds right, though we did a bit of a detour to the iconic art museum about half way along the route so it took us longer! On the way back to the port we stopped in one of the little cafes and got a delicious vegan meal. We weren't in any rush as we took the whole of the stop in the port to visit Den Gamle By. I hope you enjoy the visit as much as we did.

Dear Gallagher On the 19th of March there will be some living history - the shops in the 1927 quarter will be open and the housewife in 1927 will be working in her kitchen. You can also enter more than 80 houses and flats from 1864, 1927 and the 1970ties. And don't miss our large Poster museum, the Gallery of Decorative Arts (silverware, delftware, porcelain and clocks and watches) and our brand new Jewellery Box with 1000 danish jewelries from 1900-2000. There will be plenty to se and do even though our living history is at a low level. Our guests usually spend between 2 and 4 hours if they want to see it all. Hej Ulla. Til og med 31. december 2016 er der gratis entré for pensionister bosat i Aarhus kommune. Pr. 1. januar 2017 bliver ordningen anderledes. Fra 1. januar 2017 kan alle pensionister i Danmark købe en pensionistbillet til 135 kroner, som så giver gratis adgang til museet det pågældende kalenderår.
