Elegant and inspirational

We caught the 6A bus from near Torvhallen to Bispepberg Torv on a Sunday morning. The church is very close to the bus stop. Before visiting the church we explored the Bispepberg cemetery, which is really the Grindtvigs Churchyard. The magnificence of the church is framed by the poplars of the cemetery’s central Avenue. The autumn landscape of the immaculately planned and managed cemetery was breathtaking. After spending some time there we headed back to the church. The interior was as inspiring and beautiful as expected. I’ve not been in a building with such soaring elegance. We had arrived at the end of a christening and chatted with parishioners, which enhances our appreciation of the place. This was a highlight of my visit to Copenhagen.

A not to be missed delight

An absolutely stunning experienced not to be missed by visitors to Copenhagen. Certainly worth the trip from the centre of town. A beautiful example of how modern churches can be made to look as stunning as those with a long history.

Off the beaten track jewel

This was my third time in CPH, but the very first time I went to visit this unusual and beautiful Church. It is located outside the main tourist area, in the northwestern suburbs, and you need around half an hour to reach it by bus from downtown CPH.
Church was built in kind a "brutalist" Gothic style in the 20's of the previous century, so it's around 100 years old. It reminds on Reykjavik's main Church.
When approaching it from a quiet residential street it looks even scary, like a movie scene set. Interiors are long and huge, with high Gothic vaulted ceiling - all made of light yellow bricks. There aren't any decorations, so you feel the space, silence, peace and tranquility. The Altar is simple and modest and there're two organs - smaller and bigger one.
If you have time, I strongly advise visiting it. It will take around 1,5 - 2 hours of your time including transportation there and back.

Spectacular.

If in Copenhagen you simply must visit. Its a very striking building in the middle of a residential area. The yellow brick interior must be pretty unique!

You can get there on the train system. Emdrup is the nearest stop.

Fuori dal centro e dai percorsi turistici

Chiesta posta fuori dal centro, raggiungibile in circa 20 minuti con il pullman 6A, vale la pena visitarla se avete finito quello che dovevate vedere a Copenhagen. Imponente e quasi spaventosa da fuori, semplice da dentro.
