We really, really loved Birte’s tour of Helsinki. Not only did we learn about Helsinki’s history from ancient to modern times, but we got to hear about current social issues and attitudes in the country. She provided balanced, educated insights. We loved it! So much better than your average walking tour which borders on propaganda ;) She is brilliant. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour with Silja. We learned so much about the history and culture of Finland. Silja was so enthusiastic and engaging. Very friendly and knowledgeable guide, with a nice sense of humor, very appreciated. Nice tour of the centre of Helsinki, with highlights, tips and history. Worth to do.

We decided to join the free tour on our first day in Helsinki to quickly learn about the city. We joined Stefan on a warm afternoon and it was very insightful. He came full of props and surprises and quizzes which made the tour very engaging and fun and memorable! He made 14 stops, and was very easy to follow. We loved ending the your in the Oudi library! Thank you Stefan!

We always like a walking tour on day 1 of our trips to get our bearings and some interesting info about the place. This tour was definitely one of the better ones we have been on thanks to the guide.
Our guide Jonny was very enthusiastic and full of information without being boring or overwhelming at all. We saw a good area of the city from the main attractions to some slightly off the beaten path. It rained the whole time but he kept spirits up, and also had the good idea of taking us indoors where possible (we have been on tours where they don't take that into account in minus temperatures which just doesn't work!)
Would absolutely recommend this tour for a great overview of the city. As always these tours are pay what you feel at the end, cash and card is accepted.

We had a free walking tour with Matti on our first visit to Helsinki. Matti was so knowledgable and really, really funny. He had us in stitches! It was a wonderful tour and a great way to get to know the city and learn about the history. Would 100% recommend!

Very interesting and fun tour. Our tour guide was nice, funny and very knowledgeable. He explained main buildings/ attractions and explained Finnlands history. I would recommend the tour.

Mikael was amazing and very interesting as a person. He made the tour light hearted and fun and in the same time so satisfying and interesting as I feel I got a good sense of Finish people and culture as well as Helsinki as a city embedded in his historical origins. Would highly recommend this tour!

Thank you both for your kind replies and compliments on the tour! The tour takes around 2 hours duration, and starts EVERY day at 11:00am. You are more than welcome to ask our guides on the tours for other recommendations on what to see and do =)

Hello Nancy!
The Tour will NOT be running between Nov 1st and March 31st 2018. Unfortunately there will be NO free tours running in Helsinki between these times. This is because of low numbers of tourists, and the very cold weather.
None-the-less we hope you have a great time in Helsinki!

Hello! It's Mike, and I represent Free Tours Helsinki. There's no need at all to book a tour - nor is there a need to check for updates... this is because the tours run EVERY day at 11:00am. We do however though, have a website! Here it is:
