The structure is completely modern, innovative, with large common areas full of pleasant entertainment such as playstations, books... and even you can play chess! A short walk from Helsinki station and accessible by public transport and is the most beautiful and rich library I have ever seen. Absolutely not to be missed if you are in Helsinki!

Never in my life did I expect a public library to be the highlight of a place I'd never visited before, but I left the Oodi completely inspired. Need a work space? Meeting room? Recording studio? Game room? Kitchen? Sewing machine? 3D printer? UV printer? Book? Tool? Video game? Board game? Musical Instrument? All of this is available at the Oodi, and it's all FREE. If only every city had this kind of amenity, the world would be a MUCH better place. Bravo, Helsinki!

Jsem byl v šoku. Takové knihovny by měli být všude. Neměl jsem slov. Architektonicky úžasné dílo, kde si lze odpočinout a zároveň se vzdělat.

A small country with massive aspirations. The Building was built to celebrate 100 years of Finland’s independent & it’s magical.
It’s not a library - it’s a massive third space with wonderful inspirational architecture.
It’s such a large space the architects thought about the acoustics because there’s a large children’s area next to the library
The only thing I question was slippery terrace and one tiny door entrance but that’s to reflect chill of the country!
Helsinki citizens, you’re lucky !
Long gone in the days when you creep around the library in silence

An incredibly beautiful library, with unimaginable spaces in Italy, from collective studios, music recording studios with the possibility to rent instruments, sewing machines and 3D printers, chess on the ground floor, robots that bring books back to their place and a wonderful view from the terrace.
A pleasure for the eyes and the heart, for those who viscerally love books and libraries.

Wonderful structure, consisting of several floors, can be visited freely. Frequented by people of all ages and families with children even very young. Reading areas with sofas, plants and floorplants that look like living rooms, areas dedicated to children with shelves overflowing with books including carpets, pillows and a stroller parking area. Soundproof rooms for study, open space with PC stations, conference areas, play areas. A wonder for the eyes and the spirit!! The images do not do justice to this place that must be absolutely visited. I wish such places existed in Italy too

I don’t know if Oodi is really no 1 tourist objective in Helsinki but for sure it is a must see while you visit the city.
Very interesting building from architectural point of view, surprises the visitors by its vivid atmosphere indoor and outdoor too. A lot of people doing a lot of thinks and enjoying life.
It deserves couple a moments to the terrace overviewing the square in front of the building.

I always look for something to say WOW. and I have seen many cities and they dont excite me anymore. This place and its amazing architecture made me say wow. so pleasant for all my senses. it is stunning and it is one of those places one must visit if having opportunity. top floor. amazing space. where children r. so amazing ....

Very nice architecture, an example of a meeting place and the opportunity to spend time reading, printing drawings, using 3d printers etc. Absolutely to enter and spend a few hours there

It is much more than a library, it is a cultural center open to the community and free. You can do various activities, book study or meeting rooms, recording studios, use 3D printers and sewing machines, in short, everything.
The building is spectacular, has even a cafeteria, and the public space around the library is used by young people to dance or skate. Don't miss it.

Can I just sit there for 5 days are write?
I’m staying in Helsinki in February and need a place to work on the PhD

As far as I could see , yes. There are bookable study rooms for which you may need a library card but there are lots of tables on the top floor where you could sit and work. If I recall correctly there is also a coffee bar on each floor. Good luck with your thesis writing .
