Best library in the world. Great tram system. Lovely parks. Easy to get to from Estonia by ferry. Train stain designed by Saarinen with train that goes from Centro directly to airport. Pricey city but nice for a short visit.

It's a smart idea to include this neighborhood on your city tour. Finnish design is a special thing and this is the place where you will see a lot of it on display. Even if you are not buying you can think of these showrooms as museums.

Everything is there, especially second-hand shops for women. Lots of bars and pubs, cafes and restaurants. Nicely done, very compact.

"Design District" is bit of a misnomer. Drove through it with an architect friend and didn't see much of interest--there are far more interesting architectural sights in Helsinki to see.

We found this place during our first trip to Helsinki. We liked the area close to the Helsinki design museum. there are a lot of shops, second hand shops and galleries.

Den Design Distrikt gibt es nicht. Er ist eine Erfindung einiger Geschäftsleute um den Tourismus im Viertel anzuschieben. Wir waren vor 10 Jahren schon einmal da und seitdem gibt es eher noch weniger interessante Geschäfte. Die Werbung hat sich nicht verändert und wird scheinbar immer wieder ungeprüft von Reiseführern übernommen. Im Sommer zum bummeln und teure Getränke in den Kneipen zu nehmen geht natürlich.

Ein sehr interessanter Stadtteil, schön um einen gemütlichen Spaziergang zu machen. Tolle Geschäfte und nette Lokale in sehr ansprechenden Gebäude...Ein Besuch lohnt sich.

Eine kleine Meile mit Luxus Geschäften von Alexander McQueen bis Versace.
Die Geschäfte waren von außen schön anzusehen, sowie einige Skulpturen die sich am Gehweg befanden. Hier und da gab es Cafés und Restaurants.
War okay, sich das einmal anzuschauen. Haben keine Stunde gebraucht und sind dann wieder gefahren.

Interesting individual shopping and lively terraces have shifted the city center south. The pedestrian street Iso Roobert has really bloomed to life this summer bringing new customers to shop in the area's design stores as well as classy second hand outlets. Unnew is the latest on Uudenmaankatu selling home decoration, an airy cafeteria is attached. Hakola on Annankatu carries the family tradition of Finnish made modern furniture lasting through generations, this season the colours are pastel. The Design District expands further to prestigious Boulevard where Hetzukoto sells brand hand bags second hand with exquisite clothing designed by the Thai owner.

How far are you from West harbour and how easy to walk/ use public transport?

Really easy to get there.
Lots of tram and buses.
But ill walk there (30-40 min) if you have to time! Helsinki is so fun to walk
