Excellent and Free

This museum was amazing. Follow the signs and in you go. The museum takes you through the history of industrialisation in Tampere and the workers contribution to the workforce. It was really interesting. It had booths where you could listen to peoples accounts or watch tv news or listen to radio news. There were photographs, clothing as well as machinery etc.
We learned a lot whilst enjoying the atmosphere.
Worth a visit.

The largest free museum in Finland

2021年10月

This interesting museum is located in the historic Finlayson factory area.

The exhibitions offer an overview of the history of the industrial era and the social history of workers.

At the same premises, you can also find the Steam Engine Museum.

Socialistic Tampere

2020年7月

The history of the city is dominated by its two great cotton mills, Tampella and Finlayson, the latter still operating but manufacturing in Turkey where the cotton grows. Working conditions were hard even 30-40 years ago, the constant noise of the machines and the ever present cotton dust ruined many healths. The force of the rising workers looking for social justice was more than understandable. To keep the factories running the owners were willing to accomodate their staff with housing, health and child care, own shops and managed thus to create a strong sense of community.

Free entrance, otherwise below average

The entrance is free. There are points on the floor which could help you to follow the exhibition cronologically. I was not impressed of the exhibition.

A very good Museum

2019年8月

The Labour Museum is located in the Finlayson Area.
It is a very interesting Museum, It is telling not only about Labour, but in general about Finlands history.
There is a large area about the Alkohol policy in Finland. Many stories about the Finish Wars, The Finish Kindergardens and many other things. It is a modern museum telling the story about the young country Finland. The Museum is open 11-18 and free to visit and we will for sure tell people to go there.
