It's our last day in Iceland and we made one last stop to Keflavik before heading to the airport. Our server at the Rain restaurant (who was also amazing) recommended we stop by this "troll tree house," where some families bring their children and their old pacifiers there, as a symbol of growing up and out of use of their pacifier. The house is just about a 7-10 min walk from the restaurant (which is also a great place for traditional Icelandic food and views by the water!).
This little cave house is nestled in between a yacht area and what looks to be residential housing, and honestly never would have noticed it if she didn't mention it! Inside there is a giant-size version of everyday items, such as a chairs, toothbrush bed, and more, for Giganta the troll! You will also see her :) as well as the tree of pacifiers! It may be a small space, but it's something different, and a quick unique spot to visit right before heading to the airport (<12 min away).
This is a GREAT spot to bring your kids, and adults who enjoy the quirky :)

Such a fun little place, with a great story and feel. Wonderful for the little ones, or just those young at heart. If you are near Keflavík you should plan to spend an hour here- definitely worth it- even without kids!

A must visit with children if you are in Keflavic due to waiting time for the airport. And if you're not such a child too. It's beautiful and surprising. It is an Icelandic tale about a boy, a giantess and some sailors rescued from the sea. Well worth a visit if you are nearby. I loved it. I did not expect. I think it's open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. I went on a Sunday around 10 and there were no people. The truth is that the weather was not good and I still liked it a lot. Parking is easy in the port itself. There is a Kaffi Duus cafeteria and restaurant opposite that looks very good but it opens at 11:30, so we went to the airport without having anything to eat.

If you are looking for something to do in Keflavik....this is fun. You can walk to it and it is about a 10-15 min visit. Based on a series of Icelandic kids books about a friendly giantess and a little girl. This is the giantess' home. Its fun to see where kids have left treats for her on her table, her toothbrush and her tree decorated with soothers. I am encouraged to read the books!

We found this place while taking a walk by the sea. This place is free and fun for children, decoration and sound effects will make young and old alike laugh.

Nice to see but mainly intended for children.
The harbor surrounding it is nice with all the fishing boats.

This is a fun, 5-minute attraction for young children if you happen to already be in the area. Otherwise, I would not drive in from Reykjavik to view it.

We were killing time since our flight was canceled. We walked here from Courtyard hotel and then got ice cream at Huppu. A fun outing on a beautiful sunny day.

We are visiting in December. Can we see this even if it's dark? Is it indoors or outdoors?

I woudn't consider it "outdoors". There is an outdoor path that leads to the cave, which is clearly "indoors". I wouldn't imagine that it is heated but I am pretty sure it and the path to it would be lit. You can always ask at the Duushus museum - it is part of their collection and the visitor centre there could tell you.
