第一眼看到 Solheimjokull 索尔马黑冰川时有点失望,因为脏脏的,好像冰川上面蒙了一层灰似的,融冰的水也十分混浊,如果不参加冰川健行实际走进冰川里的话,感觉冰川的量体并不大,很明显地受到全球暖化的影响,冰川确实在缩小中,砂砾滩上不时会踩到漂上岸的浮冰,特别晶莹剔透,摸起来也和一般的冰块不太ㄧ样,根据科学家的预测,索尔玛黑冰川将会在 120-150 年之内融化,永远从地球上消失.

我们是临时来的，没有做任何研究。停车场距离高速公路约5分钟车程。走一段就能看到超棒的景观和摄影点!一些旅游公司已经在此开设了店面，这样你就可以报名参加冰川徒步旅行。没有人会阻止你独自前往冰川，但是有很多安全性的理由让你和旅行团一起前往。

喜欢。我们在7月份去的，我们穿着防水的冬衣，天气不是很冷。我们参加了北极探险组织的小船之旅。很值得。他们提供防水服。小朋友被震住了。奇妙的经历。冰的蓝色我会永远记得。拍了好看的照片。如果你想一直走到那里，可以参加一个小船之旅。它将成为你永远不会忘记的事之一。附近的钻石海滩（也推荐）。

这里绝对值得一游，可以看到冰川的美景。从停车场开始，沿着泻湖走大约10分钟，就可以靠近冰川的表面。

我超爱这里，这是我本次旅行中最喜欢的一站！！如果你想要体验一下冒险的感觉，那就想办法去冰川上徒步旅行吧！我们这次因为时间不够没能去冰川徒步旅行，下次来我们一定要尝试一下！

Can you hike on the glacier without being on a tour? If you do want a tour guide, can you get one once you arrive at the glacier or do reservations need to be made with an offsite tour operator?

There is no law per section to forbid you from trekking up on the glacier by yourself. HOWEVER much local knowledge and common sense suggests this is not a good idea. PLUS SIDE, DOING IT YOURSELF...anyone can hike safely from parking lot to great views, gdecent conditions. You may find yourself content with this. If you want on glacier experience, there are guiding services at parking lot...or you can pre book. The point is, please dont attempt on your own. Here are my pictures, no guides needed, from trail to view glacier

The best camping would depend on the time of year and the amount of daylight available. I would go with a professional guide. Quicksand is common near the glacier and at times there are falling stones.

What road do you take off the ring road to get there?
Do we need 4wd?

Take the 221. It is asphalt so no need for a 4wd. I used Google maps to get there. Enjoy.

Hi - you said it was just off the ring road. Can you access if you do not have 4wd?
We will be hiking other glaciers on tours and would love to see this, but not buy another tour.

Yes, you can definitely access it even if you don't have a 4wd. It is super easy. You park by a small building/barrack and walk as far as the trail allows you. You need to stop at the point which informs you it is no longer safe to walk (unless you are with someone qualified or a tour).

We walked alone, but did not do the whole glacier as we had four children below 16 in the group.

Definitely well worth the stop. Allow yourself at least 45 min. - 1 hr. for the walk up to the foot of the glacier as the walk is nice. You don't need a guide for that portion.
