Casa Bernard was a standout highlight during my trip to Malta. While most tourists flock to Mdina city, Casa Bernard, nestled in Rabat, is well worth the detour. The hosts of this charming house are not only welcoming but also incredibly knowledgeable and warm. We discovered artifacts reminiscent of those found in the Mdina Museum, but what set Casa Bernard apart was the opportunity to learn about the practical use of various utensils, the history behind paintings, details about plants, and the significance of symbols within the house.
The host is fluent in English, French, Maltese, and possibly other languages. I highly recommend a visit to Casa Bernard

We were shown round the house by the owners - just the two of us. They were both absolutely charming and shared all their knowledge with us. This is a real gem of a house and the garden is lovely too. This shows how a noble family lived in the past - and how a delightful family live there now. They have some amazing pictures, silver and other works of art. Great furniture and in such a beautiful setting.

La visita della casa vale il viaggio. I proprietari sono gentilissimi e disponibili a raccontare la storia della casa e di quanto hanno collezionato nei vari anni. Il giardino interno è bellissimo. Un tuffo nel passato .

Felt lucky that they were able to show us around without booking – just saw the door as we were walking past and it was such a pleasure to see such an interesting house and to meet the owners. History brought to life.

Ci siamo fermati x una visita viste le ottime recensioni, c'era il proprietario che a malapena ci ha fatto vedere un paio di stanze in tutto, x la precisione una al piano di sopra e due al pianterreno che abbiamo chiesto noi visto che attendeva di essere pagato senza mostrarci nient'altro.
Ingresso 8 euro per vedere tre stanze riteniamo sia davvero un furto, evitate questa visita non ne vale davvero la pena!!!!
Non c'è niente di interessante da vedere,
più avanti c'è il museo della cattedrale quello sì che merita!!!!

We got lucky that we stumbled across this private home open to tours. Great to learn from George about the French, Italian reception rooms and the English dining room. Lovely living history. Highly recommend

Josette was an incredible host and patiently explained many details in the most informative and understandable way. The house is a treasure trove of paintings, artefacts and furniture- a time capsule of lives long lived. Beautifully furnished. Fascinating and a must- if visiting Rabat.

We have been privileged to meet this lovely couple with lots of knowledge and an entertaining way to talk about their lovely home. This was the highlight of our visit to Mdina. We wish them both lots of health and many good visitors. I would say this is a hidden gem experience if you always wished to see behand closed door.
