Museum dedicated to history and art, entrance is free and the facilities are of excellent quality.

In the heart of the old town, a fantastic modern building excavated in the ground. Large collection from prehistory to modern times. It's free. Great for a morning or afternoon of family history.

Very nice museum over about 7 floors and was free which is always nice, bottom have is historic exhibitions, and the top levels is art some of it amazing artwork, worth a visit for sure

This is not the first time we visit Luxembourg and probably won't be the last. It is always wonderful to take a stroll in the old town and dawn in the canyon and choose from all the good restaurants, visit museums and just enjoy the international feeling that surrounds you here.

The Nationalmusée is located in the ❤ of Luxembourg city, Fëschmart/"Fishmarket". Close to the "Palais Grandducal".
No ticket purchase/reservation needed for the huuuuge permanent exhibitions. Several floors, 2 buildings to explore: one very modern building and also a historic, old building where you must "mind your head" 😉
Plenty of interesting artefacts to admire and history to discover.
The Nationalmusée is a must visit place, my favorite museum in Lux.city.

ERRATUM: I did not visit the National Museum of History and Arts quite simply because I had a backpack and I had to put it in the lockers - which can be used by inserting a 1 coin €. Not having any change on me, I suggested paying by card, but the cashier told me "we'll give you a 1 euro coin in exchange, I'll keep your card as a deposit". What are these kinds of practices? I had to ask to repeat it twice to know if I understood the request correctly before declining it... This is clearly something that is not done, why not rely on a token system?
It's a shame because the reviews all seemed positive.

It's a truly incredible collection space, the only point of note is that like every city, almost everything is written in French.
I didn't schedule a guided tour, and in general the excavation signs help me a lot with information, in this case, no.

This magnificent museum is located in the heart of the city center, a few steps from the ducal palace. Entrance is completely free, except for temporary exhibitions. Lockers available to store belongings.
Spanning 8 levels, from -4 to +4, the visit begins with the foundations of the city and the prehistoric period. Directly dug into the rock, you can even see through windows the remains of the city's foundations.
Classified according to 4 different sections, the collections include a wide range of objects, paintings, pieces of all kinds.
Everything is well highlighted, with beautiful reconstructions, whether mosaics, archaeological excavations, etc. Located in a contemporary and "historical" setting because you can see crypt remains, the museum is definitely worth a visit. Surprising to see such a wealth of collection for such a small country.
Allow at least 2 hours to see everything, the museum is large and spread over two adjoining buildings from where you can even see "works" located outside. The visit can nevertheless be a little complicated because it is quickly possible to get lost!

We were initially going to just visit the free part of the museum but changed our minds when we saw some things of interest on the 4th floor. The €7 charge was a bit high IMO as there wasn’t that much to see in the paid areas. We liked the art in the free areas the best. The high tech display in the one room, which shows interviews with people and provides information on some of the artwork, is particularly interesting and impressive.

The mnha changed its name and is now called "mnaha" (musée national d'archéologie, histoire et art).
Entry to permanent collection is free.
You could spend days visiting the exceptional and very interesting collections.
Check the museums website (English, French, German) and "prepare" your visit.
My favorite to visit and revist is the mosaic of Vichten showing the 9 muses (daughters of Zeus).
Take the elevator to -2, best spot for enjoying and taking a picture of the mosaic which was discovered in Lux./Vichten and restored to its old beauty.
The informations are almost "French only", but you can still enjoy a great, memorable visit ... for free.

Ciao a tutti, volevo sapere se era possibile accedere al museo anche per 2 minori (16 e 17 anni) non accompagnati.
Se avete anche consigli su cos'altro visitare, sarò felice di riceverli.
