Liechtenstein 🇱🇮 as a land of castles? Well, in part it does, at least because of our experience in the Principality. Last Saturday, in fact, after visiting the Vaduz fortress we moved first to Triesenberg and then Balzers to take a look 👀 at the local castle 🏰. Once in the village at 4.15pm, we managed to park without problems near the main square thus starting our walk 🚶🏻🚶🏻♀️ exploratory. We started with a short visit to the church ⛪️ then taking the path that leads to the castle 🏰, called "Burg Gutenberg" (as indicated by a didactic panel 🪧 at the beginning of the route). Not very challenging the climb, which initially develops on a dirt road (very characteristic in its exquisitely autumnal guise 🍁🍂) and, in the last stretch, on cobblestones. Pretty simple the structure 🏰 in its essential lines but, at the same time, not without a certain charm conferred by its location, precisely on the hill overlooking the town 🏘 Balzers. Unlike the castle of Vaduz, which cannot be visited as the seat of the ruling family 👑, this fortress instead allows access to visitors. I did not understand if, in addition to the beautiful courtyard (magnificent view from here), you can also visit the interior spaces but, at least at the time of our visit, the doors 🚪 were undoubtedly closed. In this regard, we found no special notices, while the caption panels 🪧 are practically all in German 🇩🇪. The only support to show indications in other languages (notably in French 🇨🇵 and Italian 🇮🇹) is a small white and blue plaque ⚪️🔵 posted at the entrance and certifying the status of "National Cultural Property" under Articles 16 and 17 of the 1954 Hague Convention. After a short stop, since it was getting dark, around 17.00 🕔 we went out then back to the village. Finally, on the way 🚘 to Dornbirn 🇦🇹 (where we were staying), we gave ourselves one last look 👀 of the castle 🏰 suggestively lit 💡. Exploring Balzers and, more generally, the Principality of Liechtenstein 👑🇱🇮, this is an essential stop. RECOMMENDED 👍🏻.

Although the interior of the castle cannot be visited, it can be accessed or at least have access to the inner courtyard.
But the beautiful view from the castle deserves! The climb is still quite steep although easily passable

We were hoping to at least get into the garden, but were only able to see the outside, as someone was living there. The view was lovely, and the climb was not too difficult.

We parked comfortably at the foot of the castle and reached it with a small scenic climb. We accessed the gardens, where we refreshed ourselves with a providential fountain. Unfortunately the castle cannot be visited internally. It still offers splendid views, and in a meadow below we stopped for a picnic with a view.

Secondo castello del Liechtenstein, dopo quello di Vaduz, situato praticamente al confine svizzero nella cittadina di Balzers.
Il castello è molto carino, peccato non sia visitabile all'interno ma sia possibile soltanto accedere alla corte.
Vale più la pena una visita per il panorama alpino che per il castello in sé.

Traumhafte Umgebung. Das Schloss ist eingebettet in Weingärten und schön bewaldete kleine Berge. Wir konnten leider nicht rein, obwohl das Schloss geöffnet sein sollte, ansonsten aber top.

Il “secondo” castello del Liechtenstein, molto bello se fotografato da lontano.

Bien que l’intérieur du château ne se visite pas, sa cour librement accessible et son cadre en ont fait mon coup de coeur de cette journée au Liechtenstein 🧡 j’ai adoré l’ambiance au château, le vent qui s’engouffre par la vieille porte donne l’impression que le château nous aspire en son intérieur. Nous étions seuls et avons pu profiter de la vue, du calme et de chaque recoin de cette petite cour moyen âgeuse. il semblerait que de temps en temps La Chapelle soit ouverte cela dit, mais nous n’avons pas trouvé quand. La monté est un peu raide mais rien d’insurmontable. L’église au pied de la pente est, elle, magnifique par contre. L’ensemble donne un air ancien et mystérieux à l’endroit.

Il castello era chiuso , non sappiamo perché, l abbiamo visto solo da fuori. Devo dire che più che la bellezza del castello, ciò che è bella è la visuale sul paese che si ha da lassù. Vale la pena salire anche solo per quello. Dentro non so come sia, fuori non è nulla di che, anche se più bello di quello di Vaduz, secondo me

Schöne Aussicht mm und tolle Atmosphäre uf dem gesamten Burghügel. Der Rosengarten ist auch sehr schön. Leider sind die Räume der Burg nicht besuchbar.

I'm not aware of any tours unless you took a bus tour to the location. We walked up to the top of the hill to the castle but unfortunately for us it was closed. There were no signs about being closed so I think the hours are intermittent. But it is located in a very small town with not much around so we didn't see anything about tours
